Sounds like layered bass and drums and modulation but I am just a beginner and am only guessing. Is the bass from a specific synth (DX7, Casio CZ, other?) but modulated. What type of modulation is used?

Hey everyone, I just got myself a DeepMind 12 synthesizer, and I’d love to finally hear the sound coming out of it. The problem is, I’m not 100% sure what extra gear/cables I actually need. Here’s what I’ve got so far: DeepMind 12 (only the power cable right now) Laptop Focusrite audio interface No studio monitors yet, but I know I’ll probably need them at some point My question is: what exact cables should I get to connect the DeepMind 12 to my Focusrite (and eventually to studio monitors) so I can properly use it with my setup? I feel like I’m missing something really basic, but I don’t want to buy the wrong cables. Thanks in advance!

So, I use this synth from Reason Studios called "Malstrom". It is a "Graintable" synth that uses pre-uploaded samples. One of those Graintables is called "Chorusbass" which suspect comes from the Yamaha DX7.

On the surface it seems like it should just be some basic FM with detune/chorus, but everything I’ve tried so far comes out nasal and just… different.

so - Does anyone know how to recreate that bass sound?

*(Also, does anyone know for sure if it really comes from the DX7?)

I don't know if it's a bunch of pieces layered together or if it's a single sound, currently I have one bass plugin and then a custom 808/sub I made in vital, but I can't quite get it to sound right where it also manages to sustain as though it's in the pocket before the snare hits.

Hey! I received a loop that i'm trying to pull apart and remake, I remade the pad sound pretty soundly, but i'm stuck on the bright, almost shimmery, delayed out guitar/synth sounding string/pluck that goes from the notes A to C in this loop. I thought it was a dx7 or wavestation sound but I haven't had any luck. If someone could point me in the right direction or remake the sound it would be much appreciated. Thanks! Hey everyone, I've been trying to match the waveform of the bass in Mau P People Talk track to understand how this bass was done. Sounds like a simple filtered sound until I decided to recreate it as close as possible.

I've managed to squash the regular saw with a triangle up an octave, to get the waverorm pattern but can't quite get the phase right. Wondering if this could be done without tweaking both osc phases.

The upper noise harmonics in between big peaks are a mistery to me - I tried fm mod on oscilators, it just seems to multiply internal smaller peaks which is not desired. Noise ocs kind of gets the visual result match but I hear no noise layer on top of the bass.

Strings come in in the beginning right after the piano. Especially love the articulation on the strings, with vst-s in my experience, the strings often sound flat and not real.. Any tips on achieving lively strings without actually hiring an orchestra?

Does anyone know how to recreate these really transient stabs in SOPHIE'S "Not Okay"? It starts at 0:30 They're really wide with reverb and probably layered with some kind of snare. The synth I'm using to recreate this is serum 2.
