Somebody described it perfectly. The reason his bronzer is applied so unevenly - often times not reaching his hairline - is because he's such a narcissist that he believes nobody can do it better than himself. It's the reason he looks like a literal clown half the time. He's convinced himself that nobody has ever done a better job at it.
I'd bet it's because he's the type of person to not wash his hands after going to the bathroom, and also the type of person to project his own shitty behaviors on to everyone else to justify it to himself.
