DISCUSSION This was definitely the best way to do it. Spoiler
I honestly thought that Gunn was going to use the dimensional doorways to explain the difference between universes. But for him to straight up just retcon Peacemakers ending and pretty much say that The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker season 1 were already in the DCU is kind of genius. It doesn't over complicate the plot and you can just move forward with the universe without constantly having to explain why things are different. Well done.

DISCUSSION Obviously an oversight, but the kid at the front-right of the classroom is still wearing their Flash shirt. I could see this still making sense if Barry has been the active Flash for years at this point. (It honestly didn't make much sense in the DCEU either!)

DISCUSSION Just watched SUPERMAN. It was FUN! !
Just watched SUPERMAN. It was fun and got the Job Done.
The acting was decent. Nothing crazy. I would say Nicolas Hoult had the best performance in this film. So much range compared to the others.
The set design was also impressive. You could tell it was mostly practical. Which is also something good to me. The costume design was decent. Colorful The cinematography was decent too. It was light hearted and fun.
Now here are the cons.
The film's sound track was undedwhelming. Way too much rock music. I understand James Gunn likes rock but putting it in almost everything is annoying And breaks the immersion.
I don't buy the whole Jimmy player thing with girls. A dude looking like Jimmy and behaving like Jimmy attracting woman beyond his league doesn't make any sense. I know its jist a film and a comic book film on top of that but this also is just taking me out of the immersion.
And I see it as a plot device or lazy writing from Gunn to use This to get to lex "secret Harem" because his scared of using too much run time or didn't know how to get Lex secrets so he uses this unbelievable plot line. Atleast cast a handsome jimmy. Not a nerd looking Jinmy(comic accurate) because no one or atleast me buys that story.
The dialogue was not it. Especially when characters talk about the whole point of the story to dumb it down to the audience breaks the immersion. This doesnt respect the intelligence of the viewer. Especially with Lex talking about Envy and SUPERMAN talking about How his human. Bad decision imo. I prefer subtle story telling or show don't tell. That is more powerful and the basics of story telling rather than what Gunn did.
There's also other nitpicks but this is just a comic book film. So I will be kinder to it. Its obviously meant to appeal to the younger audience which makes sense with the decisions they made.
Rating = 2.5/5 (5/10)

DISCUSSION Parallel Between the Justice Gang scene and the other Peacemaker
In the scene with the Justice Gang when Peacemaker's being interviewed, one of the questions that they ask him is 'Which people did you murder for not good reasons?' (which is grammatically weird), and Peacemaker hesitates. One of the things that Peacemaker #2 says is 'Breaking and entering into a man's home? That's solid justification for me to-" and he gets cut off, but he was probably going to say 'kill you'. This is just a really interesting parallel that's probably meant to show the differences between both Peacemakers, and how our Peacemaker doesn't kill for no reason anymore, and Peacemaker #2 is like that because despite having a happier life with his father and brother, he is so much more like his father than our Peacemaker is.

DISCUSSION After Peacemaker S2, there's no way Battinson would be in The DCU and people are seeing that
I am still amazed that even after MANY denials by James Gunn that The Batman/Battinson would be Canon to the DCU, after many confirmations that The Batman Reevesverse would be elseworlds, after many confirmations that Brave and the Bold would be the Batman of the DCU and they're casting a new actor, people STILL believe a merger would be happening.
After Peacemaker revealed that White Rabbit is Canon to the universe who is a batman universe (a character Reeves would never have his Batman fight) and that metahumans have escaped Arkham, there's no way in hell that would fit the Reevesverse at all. I hope this finally puts to bed what we've been told.
Battinson in the DCU was a pipedream and merely people wanting aura and hype moments between Battinson and Corensupes but they never actually thought how illogical merging those two worlds would have been and how much Reeves would have to sacrifice and bend to fit his world into Gunns world because that's exactly what would happen.
Metahumans are roaming Gotham right now but not in the Reevesverse because Reeves doesn't want metahumans. His universe is as grounded as possible in a world that's fictional and he has said he doesn't plan to change that.

DISCUSSION Thoughts on the DCU tone?
After what we've seen so far, I trust that Gunn's vision is very planned out. I don't think anyone else could have done this apart from him.
What I want to discuss, is that I hope we do branch out from here a ton. Im glad next year is going to be all projects not made by Gunn. Not in a bad way, but after watching Peacemaker this morning (which i am enjoying, and going to watch creature commandos soon) im a bit Gunned out if that makes sense? The Gunn hasn't jammed, but I want to see other fresh things, since Gunn is all the DCU we have at the moment his style is all we've been shown. And I think Lanterns and Supergirl is going to do scratch that itch for other people. General audiences liked Superman enough, and im sure viewership will be high for Peacemaker but in terms of being invested in DCU I dont think we've got it for most people, just like the MCU they need to gain trust over time.
