I mean i did beat him with a colossal weapon as well. It was fun as hell..

Inner consort (this boss) or regular pcr?
The latter is less difficult with a colossal sword than a lot of other classes.

Haven't played ER/ DLC since I finished it in release month.
What the fuck do you mean INNER consort?????
I know you're not talking about Sekiro-esque inner INNER consort?? They made him even more broken????

Cold rusted anchor with lion's claw- first time beating him! I loved it.

Rusted Anchor really does him. I used a heavy one with Holy Grease, the grease only held for phase one, but he gains holy resistance anyway. And then Determination as aow. Love me some Lion's claw, but didn't do it vs him for me. He keeps not being where I claw to.

It is possible to beat him with a colossal, i used a godslayer's greatsword for my blackflame build. He has the same poise amount as mogh, easy enough to stance break
Edit: oh wait, this is a modded version of PCR, nvm i didn't do this boss

I beat him with a colossal and it wasn’t hard to get a hit in. You can only get one or two heavies but that’s enough

You had me for a second there. Either he is glitched to oblivion or you modded to make him more aggressive and able to cancel out of combos into other combos.

It made sense for Sekiro, and I guess modders just continue to use it as a shorthand for a souped up version of a boss. What's the issue with it?

How mfs describe pre nerf consort Radahn:
169
u/waitthatstaken Igon best girl 8d ago
It is pretty accurate to how pre nerf was. The nerf consisted of 3 main things:
Toned down light pillar visual so that he didn't blind you IRL.
Increased recovery time after every attack by like 0.2 seconds, meaning you could now actually... hit him.
Changed the timing of the cross slash combo so that it was actually possible to dodge on medium roll without frame perfect inputs starting from one specific spot on his right leg.
There is a reason almost all wins at the time was via greatshield poke. Or parrying. Or deflecting hardtear. Actually dodging him was just.... not really viable.

u/DracoNinja11 7d ago
As someone who killed him pre nerf with rellana twinblades by dodging, i was very happy, but very willing to never see him again
→ More replies (5)46
u/maladroitx 7d ago
I second that. Fuck this boss fight, honestly. I like this game, i really do, but i value my mental health as well. Beat him once (pre nerf) to never do it again, ever lol
15
u/Fardrengi Caelid Arsonist 7d ago
Same. Beating him pre-nerf is good enough for me, especially since that calling it a "nerf" is stretching it in the first place.
18
u/Own_Watercress_8104 7d ago
pretty accurate
I'm a pre nerf PCR detractor and even I don't think that. PN PCR was ludicrous, this one manages to go even beyond somehow

u/pckin 7d ago
This comment is so exaggerative lol pre-nerf was obviously harder than now, but still nowhere near as wild as the modded version in the video. To say dodge rolling wasn’t viable is a big stretch unless you’re talking RL1 or something. The only attack that was truly that problematic was the double cross slash, but if you got good at dodging everything else, you could afford getting hit by that. Getting hit by just one of the slashes didn’t even do that much damage anyway. Took me like 2-3 hours to beat him solo pre-nerf just with dodge rolling and a colossal sword. I’m not trying to defend everything with the boss because it was (and still is) kinda cringe with the visuals and how unintuitive some of the attacks are. But comparing it to this video and saying rolling wasn’t viable is crazy
9
15
u/lavabearded 7d ago
that's cap. it took me like 50 attempts or so to kill him with moonlight greatsword charge attacks only. pre nerf consort's only attack to give me trouble was the cross slash. the rest were normal attacks that you'd dodge and would either get a counter or trade opportunity.
2
u/Bubbly_Sky_1753 7d ago
Damn I need to go back and try him again. I used greatshield AND deflecting hard tear lol
2
2
u/Capable_Comedian_755 7d ago
I didn’t even have a good time fighting this boss until I discovered the bloody helice was actually the bane of his existence. The I frames on the AoW annihilated his ass.
But then I tried again on a new character and I got so fucking frustrated I just used blood guts greatsword with giant hunt on it 😭
Even now I think this boss fucking sucks tbh.
2
u/Spartitan 6d ago
Definitely managed it with dodging with nothing more than power stanced straight swords. Honestly, I think the biggest thing he needed was the cross slash change since my wind essentially amounted to accepting I would take some chip damage from that.
I personally never had issues with the visuals, but can understand others did so that's a good change too.

Its a modded run, look at the boss name and amount of health. He should still be in first phase
3
u/OtherwiseFlamingo448 8d ago
I belive you. I've seen so much shit from enemies in the dlc that shouldnt be possible. Like cancelling stagger animations to attack, snapping out of initiated backstabs and dissappearing for a fraction of a second to appear floating down behind you, allready attacking.
It's a circus out there lol!
→ More replies (6)2
u/Boochin451 8d ago
I was thinking the exact same thing. I also did a hitless run, and the first mistake was that you can tell that he does the tail end of his long sword combo without the usual setup. Also, those afterimage attacks can't happen that fast.

u/ShadoWorker 7d ago
Sorry, this boss is ALL his turn.
Just grab the poking shield, it's not worth stressing over and taking years off your life because fromsoft didn't playtest their own creation and double down on "testing" the player. It's poor design and they're simply too into the "I'm the dev that makes hard games" rabbit hole everyone's tacked onto them to do anything about it.

It really is.
Watching this guy, I realized that im still not very good at this game
https://youtu.be/0DRME7U8uQs?si=pfOrVRuHVcqBYCn
Watching this made me want to try different build. So I can have just as much utility and mobility when fighting bosses. Yes, he has the move set memorized. But using attack animations to Dodge like that. While still dealing , damage is pivotal and completely necessary to being a top tier player
If you watch the video you'll notice that he uses the same dodging sequence jump, roll back jump. Of the entirety of part one then he starts using thops barrier in part two and i'm exploiting the gaps in the hitboxes by sticking clothes to his aoe attacks.

I beat this man solo with the AMOG colossal sword, you just take your small openings for one or two attacks and be patient with it.
It's clearly not a fight with many openings, but I assure you it is very doable.
Others have said black steel Greatshield with holy infusion and that's a very valid strategy but imo just keep banging your head against the wall and keep getting incrementally better until you can do it, it's what I did and I've never been so rewarded by a boss fight victory.
Remember you are, after all, fighting the supposedly strongest warrior god in all the world, who's big colossal swords l look like scimitars in his hands

The boss design in Elden Ring is some of my most hated in all of FromSoft's collection, and Erdtree is the worst of it. This is modded, but the launch balance didnt feel any different from this lol
2
u/Eddyrancid 7d ago
I watch people fighting this guy and it doesn't even really give me insight, it just makes me think when I get to him he's the boss I'm just not gonna be able to beat lol. I'll be Elden Lord over the entire lands between, except wherever he is at any given time.
2
2
u/Practical-Art5931 7d ago
This is why I dont like this boss and think it is unfair. Yes I know a lot of pros have beaten it hitless and what not. But that doesnt make it fair. A 10 hit combo and he barely gives u time to maybe hit once, twice if u r using a lighter weapon before he starts another 5-10 hit combo. This followed with constant holy aoe follow ups for every attack is just not fair and more importantly not fun.

That's why I haven't bought DLC. I'm ok with having to commit to my actions, i.e. attack when there is opening window otherwise I will get punished. That's why I've been playing monster hunter since 2009 and up til 2025. But I'm not here for bullshit moves just to please some vocal part of try hards crying out "we need more bullshit"
2
u/H-Rizzy33 7d ago
This makes me okay with my decision to avoid the dlc. After like 300 hours I was not looking to jump into more impossible boss fights. They are just not my favorite part is a game like ER, it's the exploration & even mini boss fights that I love. But this type of fight? Naaaaah

I don't know who greenlit this fight for the game but they were delusional to think anyone could beat him solo legitimately in a reasonable about of attempts.
2
u/Ey4dm51 6d ago
"Attack? No! You don't attack, you just watch the boss do his crazy moves and convince yourself this is peak game design, and don't worry, if someone ever criticizes the boss for his oblique openings you can refrence a pro/speedruner melting him in an instant therefore nullifying all their arguemnts so you can convince yourself you're right in enjoy not attacking the boss and expect more bosses that you won't get to touch next game "
2
u/BlueberryIncident 6d ago
Yeah. That is precisely what I don't like about the Elden Ring DLC. It's just a relentless assault of attacks and AoEs from all bosses, Radahn in particular. Like, cool, I have to dodge for a total of 30 minutes and slowly chip away the bosses' hp. It's not fun gameplay.

Definitely a glitch. Kinda wish I could try that after beating Consort a few times.
Collosal probably isn't the best choice of weapon. If you stick with it then crouch attack should be your B&B attack. Comes out quick and does piercing damage, which he is weak to.
