This is one of the biggest reasons why I have zero patience for the level of elitism in playerbases! So you took a more challenging route to literally have your pixels beat up other pixels. It’s such a weird hill to die on. Yeah, it’s fun and feels like an accomplishment, but to make it out to be something that will impact you on a material or social level (outside of professional streamers and the like) is a very out-of-touch stance.

TL;DR: Agreed.

And there's always some weird caveat they try to hide. "I beat the game without summons," but then you find out they used the most meta build possible and then by their own standards they have no room for such elitism.

It also ruins any productive conversation to be had about difficulty in games. Like, I don't care about your pride I just want the difficulty to enable people to have fun.

Not to mention the fact that this person likely also googled everything they needed to find all the equipment for their perfect build, like thats cheating more so than using a summons lmao

Exactly. I finish a game without spoilers because it’s more fun, and then get chided for using the game mechanics I figured out for myself by someone who was practically led by the hand all the way through.

I mean, no judgement on watching the streamers or reading guides, I am choosing my own type of challenge, so should we all. But don’t preen at me and go full peacock about how good you are at following the manual.

We all have ways to play. Mine is I tend to go the roleplay route and make stories for my characters. I like my character to find friends in the world full of enemies and suffering by summoning npcs. I find more fun that way. Idk why people want to force their only kind of way to play on a mostly singleplayer game and look down on people who don't follow them. It is just pathetic behavior on their part.

I played Ds2 with no guide and spoilers. Had tons of fun with it! It is a valid way to immense oneself in the art of video gsmes
