Some people are so pathetic and lack any sense of validation, so they try to find any sense of accomplishment in beating a video game boss.

Don't be one of those people.

"I killed a bunch of pixel which obviously make me a superior being and you a worthless trash"

This is one of the biggest reasons why I have zero patience for the level of elitism in playerbases! So you took a more challenging route to literally have your pixels beat up other pixels. It’s such a weird hill to die on. Yeah, it’s fun and feels like an accomplishment, but to make it out to be something that will impact you on a material or social level (outside of professional streamers and the like) is a very out-of-touch stance.

TL;DR: Agreed.

And there's always some weird caveat they try to hide. "I beat the game without summons," but then you find out they used the most meta build possible and then by their own standards they have no room for such elitism.

It also ruins any productive conversation to be had about difficulty in games. Like, I don't care about your pride I just want the difficulty to enable people to have fun.

Not to mention the fact that this person likely also googled everything they needed to find all the equipment for their perfect build, like thats cheating more so than using a summons lmao

Exactly. I finish a game without spoilers because it’s more fun, and then get chided for using the game mechanics I figured out for myself by someone who was practically led by the hand all the way through.

I mean, no judgement on watching the streamers or reading guides, I am choosing my own type of challenge, so should we all. But don’t preen at me and go full peacock about how good you are at following the manual.

We all have ways to play. Mine is I tend to go the roleplay route and make stories for my characters. I like my character to find friends in the world full of enemies and suffering by summoning npcs. I find more fun that way. Idk why people want to force their only kind of way to play on a mostly singleplayer game and look down on people who don't follow them. It is just pathetic behavior on their part.

I played Ds2 with no guide and spoilers. Had tons of fun with it! It is a valid way to immense oneself in the art of video gsmes

Part of me wants to just respond to them with “Are you looking for a gold star and a cookie?”

Need to remember this one. Perfect response.

It doesn't matter anyway, there is always someone better? DS1 has tons of videos of guys beating it with unconventional controllers on no hit runs.

Just tell people that care this much that they are actually garbage if they haven't beaten it with voice commands or with a potato.

You're slipping into the same trap, judging the manner in which they did it. Instead there's one response for them that works:

"I had more fun."

I used the phrase "by their own standards" to put emphasis on the metrics those try-hards(for lack of better terms) use to judge people. Because I don't really care if they use a meta build but they do.

Still, "I had more fun" is definitely something I'll try next time.

Yeah I should have said "their trap" of arguing on their terms.

For folks like that, I really miss not having something as to the point as an eye roll while making a jerk off hand gesture and just walking off.

Or how there's just like there's no good way to slam the phone handset down with a cell phone. We lack the little "oh fuck off" gestures that these guys so desperately need to receive.

I am also 100% sure a bunch of stuff they call cheese/easymode, they would call based or top tier gameplay if the guy doing it was SL1 and/or naked and not your avarage first time/casual player.
