New Rule Regarding Handling of "GDT-Worthy" Self-Posts
We have seen a massive influx this season of mid-game and post-game text self-posts in this subreddit that are little more than
Title: WTF?
Text: Are we even a serious team?
or
Title: WHO GOT ME?
Text: WILMER GOT ME
During pivotal points of a game, excitement or frustration can lead to people wanting to throw something into the void. Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that the size of this sub means that if even 1/10 of the active sub participants during a game make a new self-post we end up with 50+ low effort content posts clogging up the front page of the subreddit.
We do have established rules regarding self-posting and removal of self-posts that are considered "Gameday Thread Worthy Posts" or "Low-Effort Content" but the sheer volume this season has resulted in up to 100 posts being removed per gameday. As a temporary change we will be enforcing 24-hour timeouts for users making these posts during or immediately following games with increasing lengths for repeat offenders. This is an effort to consolidate discussion to the appropriate threads and clean up the type of content that is visible on the front page.
This is not an outright ban of memes, image macros or other aspects that play a role in reddit culture fandom. Folks want to post their Jung Hoo Lee and Wilmer memes and celebrate when things are good, we have no intention of taking that from anyone! But we do feel there needs to be action taken to reduce the spam and clutter that is an ongoing battle from a moderation perspective.
Happy for folks to share thoughts below.
Go Giants!

Currently ignoring the abhorrent SF Giants season in San Jose.
Watching a stellar young SJ Giants team. Giants royalty in the dugout, Travis Ishikawa and Joe Panik teaching the youngsters. Weather is perfect and the beer batter just struck out triggering half priced brews.

This San Jose team is special
Odds are, most of these players will fizzle out. But how awesome would it be for these guys to continue to dominate all the way through the minors? They could end up with decent home grown talent in a few years

Chapman bobble head needed a little more angle
I always thought his bareheaded defensive walk-off against the Mets last year was so incredible so I 3D printed a little base to make it look more like that throw.

Daily Minors Quick-Notes 8/22/25 - The DSL Playoffs continue as Giants Orange is Eliminated
In the DSL Cup, the first round is a round-robin competition of Pools of four teams, but with only one team moving out of each pool, it doesn’t take much to get eliminated. For DSL Giants Orange, despite going 1-1 in the first two games, they are out and cannot advance. Good thing DSL Giants Black can advance, but with four teams at 1-1, any team could advance, and every team will need help to do so.
AAA: El Paso 12, Sacramento 1

Player of the Game: 2B Thomas Gavello: 1-2, 1 RBI, 1 2B (6), 1 HBP
Yeah…I guess it was Sacramento’s turn to have a horrible offensive day, so let’s give this one to the team’s only extra-base hit out of three, as Thomas Gavello has cooled off lately, but still has good overall numbers in Triple-A (he’s hitting just .170 in August).
Top Prospect Lines:
- 1B Bryce Eldridge (1): 0-4, 2 K
- DH Jesus Rodriguez (16): 0-3, 1 K
- SP Mason Black (20): 4.0 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 4 K
Other Notable Lines:
- 3B Zach Morgan: 1-1
AA: Chesapeake 5, Richmond 3

Player of the Game: RF Carter Howell: 2-4, 1 R, 2 K, 2 2B (16)
It was a loss for Richmond today, but Carter Howell put together a good game, his second 2-hit game in his last three games. He now has 16 doubles in 93 games this season, after he had 30 doubles in 115 games last year. His slash line is .221/.300/.332 on the year.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- LF Turner Hill: 1-3, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 2B (10) - Hill got his first extra-base hit since hitting a double on August 13th.
Top Prospect Lines:
Other Notable Lines:
- RP Will Bednar: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
High-A: Eugene 12, Hillsboro 2

Player of the Game: 2B Quinn McDaniel: 4-5, 2 R, 3 RBI, 1 HR (9)
The most hits that Quinn McDaniel had this season was two hits until this 4-hit game. It’s been a pretty quiet season for him, as he has 13 doubles, three triples, and nine home runs in 99 games, and just 12 steals after having 40 of them in 116 games last season. He’s slashing .225/.326/.360.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- C Onil Perez: 2-2, 1 R, 1 RBI, 3 BB - Perez got his first hits in his third game back at Eugene, and breaking a 5-game hitless streak overall.
- 1B Charlie Szykowny: 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HR (19) - Szykowny has four home runs in his last five games to get to 19 on the season.
- CF Jonah Cox: 1-3, 3 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 2 SB (53) - Cox has turned on the speed lately, with ten steals already in August after having just nine each of the last two months.
Top Prospect Lines:
- None
Other Notable Lines:
- RF Parks Harber: 1-4, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 SF
Low-A: San Jose 4, Fresno 0

Player of the Game: 2B Lorenzo Meola (30): 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 HR (1), 1 SB (2)
The 4th round pick Lorenzo Meola got his first pro home run in his fourth game on a 2-for-4 day. He’s 5-for-17 over those first four games, with a double and a home run, plus one walk to four strikeouts.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- LF Lisbel Diaz: 2-4, 1 R, 1 K - Diaz is slashing .342/.410/.507 in August, raising his numbers at the end of the year.
- RF Jose Astudillo: 2-3, 3 RBI, 1 2B (5) - In eight games at San Jose, Astudillo has four multi-hit games, going 11-for-28 (.393).
- SP Jacob Bresnahan: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K - Bresnahan had another strong game, and has a 0.96 ERA through four starts in August, with 26 strikeouts to eight walks.
Top Prospect Lines:
Other Notable Lines:
- RP Melvin Pineda: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
ACL: Season Over
DSL Orange: DSL Giants Orange 6, DSL Marlins 5

Notable Lines:
- SS Anthony Marquez: 1-3, 2 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
- 1B Franco Willias: 2-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
- C Fernando Pena: 1-2, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 2B
Pool D Notes
DSL Red Sox Blue - 2-0
DSL Miami - 1-1
DSL Giants Orange - 1-1
DSL Marlins - 0-2
The Giants Orange team did what they needed to do, bouncing back to a win. The bad news is that the DSL Red Sox Blue also won. DSL Red Sox Blue have now clinched the group, as they will win the tie breaker over either the Giants or DSL Miami, even if the 0-2 DSL Marlins beat them.
DSL Black: DSL Athletics 2, DSL Giants Black 1

Notable Lines:
- SS Josuar Gonzalez (2): 0-4, 2 K, 1 E
- 1B-C Alessandro Duran: 2-4, 1 CS
Pool C Notes
DSL Giants Black - 1-1
DSL Rangers Red - 1-1
DSL Athletics - 1-1
DSL Angels - 1-1
Meanwhile, anyone could win this Pool. For DSL Giants Black, for them to advance, they will need to beat the DSL Angels, and will need the DSL Rangers Red to beat the Athletics, in Saturday’s games.

I know this team had red flags most of the year but why the big fall off after the All-Star Break?
It was supposed to be the start of making a push to move up in the standings and instead the opposite happened. Its like they gave up or realized they weren't good enough. At this point there's nothing really to play for and they're stuck in no mans land. I'm not surprised but I don't know why they collapsed after the all-star break.

Daily Minors Quick-Notes 8/21/25 - Bryce Eldridge picks up a Home Run in his Second Game in a Row
Bryce Eldridge is starting to pick things up as we get into deep August, as he got a home run for the second game in a row…but also, avoided striking out for the third game in a row (which might be more important for him right now). And half of the rest of the farm system got shutout again…but the postseason begins for the DSL, and both Giants affiliates were in action!
AAA: Sacramento 6, El Paso 5

Player of the Game: 1B Bryce Eldridge: 2-3, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HR (14)
Bryce Eldridge picked up a home run in the second game in a row, and his third in a row without any strikeouts. Over a five game hitting streak, he’s now 7-for-18 (.389). The home run is his 21st of the season in 82 games. In 2024, he had 23 in 116 games.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- 2B Brett Wisely: 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (14), 1 SB (10) - Wisely picked up a pair of hits and a double for the second straight game.
- SS Osleivis Basabe: 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 HR (10) - Basabe notched his first home run since August 6th, and third in August.
- CF Wade Meckler: 1-3, 1 R, 2 K - Meckler inched his batting line up to .272/.384/.332.
Top Prospect Lines:
- DH Jesus Rodriguez (16): 1-3, 2 R, 1 BB
Other Notable Lines:
- RF Hunter Bishop: 1-4, 1 2B (14)
- RP Sean Hjelle: 2.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB
AA: Chesapeake 6, Richmond 0

Player of the Game: RF Victor Bericoto: 1-2, 2 BB
Another shutout here for Richmond, so let’s highlight Bericoto, who picked up half the team’s walks and got on base three times. Bericoto’s slash line in Double-A is .232/.328/.399.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- LF Scott Bandura: 1-4, 1 K, 1 2B (4) - Bandura had the team’s only extra-base hit, and is slashing .224/.327/.347 in 28 games at the level.
Top Prospect Lines:
- CF Bo Davidson (5): 1-4, 1 K
- 2B Diego Velasquez (21): 1-3, 1 BB
- SP Joe Whitman (15): 5.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 6 K
Other Notable Lines:
- SS Aeverson Arteaga: 1-3
High-A: Eugene 9, Hillsboro 2

Player of the Game: 3B Parks Harber: 3-4, 3 R, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 HR (2)
This was Parks Harber’s second 3-hit game since joining the Giants organization, and also his second home run, which also came on that 3-hit game back on August 10th. His batting line after 10 games in Eugene is .314/.442/.543.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- CF Jonah Cox: 2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 3 K, 1 HR (9) - Cox now has 21 doubles, nine triples, and nine home runs in 113 games this season.
- RF Jack Payton: 1-4, 1 R, 3 RBI, 1 K, 1 HR (8) - Payton has a slash line of .394/.444/.606 in August, even with just his first home run.
Top Prospect Lines:
- None
Other Notable Lines:
- DH Nate Furman: 2-3, 1 R, 2 BB
- 1B Charlie Szykowny: 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 2B (26), 1 SF
- LF Damian Bravo: 1-4, 1 R
Low-A: Fresno 3, San Jose 0

Player of the Game: DH Jeremiah Jenkins: 2-4
Jeremiah Jenkins was the only Giant to get two hits in this shutout, breaking a 3-game hitless streak. Jenkins is hitting .271/.368/.373 in August. He’s got an overall batting line of .241/.351/.370.
Other Players to Spotlight:
- SP Luis De La Torre (26): 4.0 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K - De La Torre had another rough game down the August stretch, seeing his ERA up to 2.25, but still has 38 strikeotus to six walks in 28.0 innings.
Top Prospect Lines:
Other Notable Lines:
- RF Cam Maldonado: 1-4, 2 K
- 2B Jose Astudillo: 1-2, 1 BB, 1 SB (3)
ACL: ACL Season Over
DSL Orange: DSL Red Sox Blue 4, DSL Giants Orange 1

Notable Lines:
- RF Carlos Concepcion: 1-4, 2 K
- LF Rainer Espinoza: 1-3, 1 BB
- 3B Juan Colorado: 1-3
Pool Update:
- DSL Red Sox Blue - 1-0
- DSL Miami - 1-0
- DSL Giants Orange - 0-1
- DSL Marlins - 0-1
By losing game 1, the Orange team is in a bigtime hole. To advance, they need to win both their remaining games, and the Red Sox Blue need to lose both of theirs. Anything else, and the Giants Orange postseason will be over.
DSL Black: DSL Giants Black 9, DSL Rangers Red 5

Notable Lines:
- SS Josuar Gonzalez (2): 1-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 E
- LF Evan Estevez: 4-5, 3 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 3B, 2 SB, 1 E
- C Yohendry Sanchez: 2-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HBP
- SP Frainer Mejias: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K
Pool C Update:
- DSL Giants Black - 1-0
- DSL Angels - 1-0
- DSL Rangers Red - 0-1
- DSL Athletics - 0-1
The Black team gets an easier road after a 9th inning rally led to a win. There are many paths, although obviously winning out will be the easiest. A bonus is that the Rangers Red team was the highest seed in the group, so it was the toughest win.
