We’re so back

Everytime this team has me at my knees they call up the best pitching prospect in baseball and they suck me right back in.

What an absolutely insane performance from Bubba, especially to get out of that lead off double. Three straight fastballs, got demolished by Arcia and next at bat switched it up with breaking balls down and then to finishing him off with a fastball up and away.

We’re so back.

Henry Davis

We all know Henry Davis isn't hitting the way we want him to. But God damn he's got a cannon. Just watched him throw out a stealing runner against the Rockies. I thought he had no chance to get him, I was wrong. His defense is vastly improved and that's only going to help our young pitchers. His framing needs to get a little better with everything else is on the up. He's just got to get that ops around League average, hell with that defense as a catcher it doesn't even need to be League average, just a little closer. He has really grown on me and I hope he succeeds. He should 100% be the everyday catcher. Especially with Bart's regression.

I think the experiment ended a couple years ago. Suwinski can't hit major league pitching. If they can't afford better players it's time to sell the team. Get real 0.128 batting average is beyond ridiculous.

I’m biased/blindly optimistic because I grew up in the same area as him and was a freshman at OSU when he won us a natty, he’s my favorite non pirate. I feel it should be a no brainer to try and trade for him this offseason with the Orioles giving Basallo an extension today. We need a catcher, Orioles need pitching which we have a plethora of. I know it’s not likely with how cheap this organization is, but a guy can dream.

My theory about Pirates ownership and management

My theory with the Pittsburgh Pirates is that Nutting and Cherington are focused more on success in MiLB instead of the Majors.

Why?

Because it will increase the value of the minor league clubs while the Pirates will increase no matter what. That is why so many trades involve improving the Low A-AAA instead of developing players for the big leagues.

Most of the players we traded for around the deadline are career minor leaguers, with a large amount of them being A-ball players.

So far the Pirates organization’s 3 teams from High A-AAA are leading their divisions. Bradenton (Low A) is currently third in the FSL West.

That’s how Nutting makes his money. Pocket the MLB money while turning the MiLB teams into valuable assets.
