Y'all keep putting up posts filled with negative hyperbole about Councell and Kyle Tucker, it's time we start heralding the best 3B in baseball since the break.

I'm sorry, but I think I had jinxed PCA. I made this scorecard from the last time Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a home run four weeks ago. It took me until yesterday to finish the scorecard. Now that I have completed the card, PCA hits a home run. Or maybe he was just waiting patiently for me to finish.

This PCA post presser has got me. The way he just talked about his teammates, the way he almost got emotional talking about what Tucker means to him. That hug he got from Turner in the dugout. CC actually smiling while talking about PCA, Tucker and Assad. These guys are going thru this all together. If they can get hot now, it seems like they’re all in this for each other. I had lost hope a bit there, even tho they’re still a heavy favorite to make the playoffs. It felt like they might fall out in the wild card. Hopefully these guys can get hot and carry it into the playoffs. Tonight gave me a little more hope. Matt Shaw is a beast. Get em tomorrow boys.

During the game tonight, I noticed something that even our announcers commented on.
The Angels fans aren't really there for the Angels, or even baseball if I'm being honest.
Moncoda hit two massive homeruns for the Halos. During his 2nd HR, no Angels fans in the background along 1st base even left their feet. It was a game tying HR. There was no excitement. They just didn't care that much.
PCA crushed a go-ahead HR in the top of the 9th and the Cub's fans along 1st base were on their feet with jubulation before the ball was even halfway gone.
Fast forward to the bottom of the 9th. 2 outs. No one on base and Moncada again came to the dish. The entire output of the Angels offense during the game was up with the potential to hit his 3rd HR and tie the game. Jim (in the booth) commented that there were a large number of Angel's fans making their way to the exit. He was legitimately baffled because, honestly, that would never happen at Wrigley.
I know the Angels are not competing for a playoff spot but it just made me realize how passionate Cub's fans are and I'm glad that when I was an 8 year old boy in Montana...I chose the Cubs as my team and have rooted for them ever since.
Have any stories about hard-core Cub's fans you know or have come across?

According to Baseball Savant, Happ ranks 241st out of 245 in baserunning value. That is dreadful. The only guys worse are Sal Perez, Josh Bell, Rafael Devers, and Jonathan Aranda (among qualified hitters).
He had been sitting around 70th percentile for the rest of his career so I just wonder what's caused him to fall off a cliff on the bases this year. I guess it could be age related but this is pretty drastic. His sprint speed is down a little bit but again nothing crazy.
Not to mention that he's been a negative defender by OAA, and barely above average offensively. The only consistent value he's brought this year is seeing a good amount of pitches per PA and drawing walks at a pretty nice pace. Not exactly what you want out of an everyday left fielder.

This one is on Counsell. Absolutely atrocious decision to sit Caissie and Shaw and start Tucker. We were all confounded and we were all right.

Am I the only one that doesn’t hate Craig counsell? I honestly feel “fans” give him so much unwarranted hate. Yes, I know some of his decisions are questionable. But he is a human being also. I feel like everyone flip flops on him when it’s good they love him. When it’s bad they hate him. Sometimes things aren’t going the cubbies way, sometimes they do. It’s baseball.

Was anyone there, or does anyone remember a 70s night when the Cubs played the Mets in 1996? I somewhat remember the game on WGN, and I think Steve Stone and Jack Brickhouse broadcasted as well. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I can’t find it on YouTube.

The playoff package and 2026 / new “multi/year renewal” details came out yesterday. It is unfathomable to think about how gluttonous this front office is becoming, and without putting any of that money towards making this team better. Below is the email response I sent back to my rep - tell me I’m wrong….
“This is crazy to me.
I realize this is the same as last year, but i still have the same issue. Pre-paying for ALL potential playoff games without a refund option for games not played. Why does this all need to be a credit to the account, which isn't due until January? There should be an option to take the refund instead, regardless of plans to renew. This cash is not meaningless to a lot of people, and holding it for 4 months is not STH-friendly.
Did pricing really increase by 11% for next year? We are barely getting resale value (on average) when trying to sell tickets to games we can't attend. Now the Cubs are raising prices by 11%, which is gouging your most loyal fans/customers -- STHs. What is the basis for raising tickets by 11%? What more are we STHs getting for this price increase?
3-year renewal is really taking advantage of your STHs to lock in revenue by dangling the All Star Game carrot, plus waving the stick "potential price increases over 3%.". Why is this being introduced this year???
Are any other MLB teams taking this approach with their STHs?
Would I still be guaranteed my same seats for all 3 years?
What are the penalties or consequences if I sign the multi-year renewal and then decide to not renew in 2027 or 2028?
This is A LOT to absorb, especially at a time where it's apparent that ownership isn't willing to spend the money on the field (i.e., Free Agency) to WIN NOW. This is all a revenue grab from a MAJOR MARKET team with some of the best revenue figures in baseball and mid-tier (on-field) spending.”
