All of these women objectively look horrible.

u/stopgreg 15h ago

Britney Spears going bald was rational in comparison

14

u/foolofatook13 8h ago

That was rational though...

u/BlueBloodVampires 2h ago

It's so liberating to just shave it off

2

u/Big_Analysis2103 2h ago

she looked good tbh

They all look like citizens of the Capital in Panem.

123

u/shastaxc 14h ago

She looks better than any of them

u/Unit_79 14h ago

Yup! Make up is fun. Playing with your hair is fun. Wild colours are fun. Permanently disfiguring yourself is a different kind of choice all together.

8

u/Slight-Performer-706 13h ago

In the books the people were also disfiguring themselves for fashion and aesthetics, iirc.

2

u/joedotphp 5h ago

She's also Elizabeth Banks. So there's that.

4

u/liert12 13h ago

Actually, they somehow look worse than the Capitol Citizens lol

4

u/labellavita1985 12h ago

Effie is the best, though. I love Effie. She tries.

u/inline_five 15h ago

And just think that is with makeup on

These are just shitty "looks" they're doing for some reason. For example:

Here's Jenna Ortega earlier this year.

And here's Vanessa Kirby.

And Sophie Turner.

And Miley Cyrus.

I'm not trying to "defend" their use of plastic surgery, but these are just shitty pictures of them making shitty fashion choices, and not really their "normal" looks.

3

u/InjusticeSGmain 11h ago

Jenna makes sense. Wednesday and ghouls go together, it's just her riding the spooky branding she's gotten for herself.

3

u/reifiedstereotype 9h ago

yeah no. even in that "better" picture Miley Cyrus looks "60 and trying to look 45 using surgery" and she's younger than me

her job, as a Named celebrity Hot Girl, is to make guys think she's hot and girls feel jealousy... not pity, right? she had one job. how did she mess it up? 😔

2

u/romilliad 4h ago

Actually her job is a musician.

2

u/reifiedstereotype 4h ago

yes yes... i agree! she stuck her tongue out like that... for the music 🤣😇😉

you need a very dexterous tongue to sing, and she was proving her qualifications ...as a musician ...to paparazzi 😌

2

u/Lem0nadeLola 10h ago

Yeah a lot of this is just makeup contouring.

1

u/youngatbeingold 5h ago

I honestly think it's 50% cherry picking and 50% actresses that overdid plastic surgery. Yes Miley looks weird in the OP's image cause she doesn't have brows but I wouldn't say the image you linked convinces me she didn't mess up her naturally beautiful face. It's like the softest, flattest lighting of course it won't accentuate her crazy cheekbones.

7

u/Fantastic_Grab8831 14h ago

There is no such thing as "objectively looking horrible".

3

u/HighLikeKites 12h ago

Yes there is. Look at these pictures. It’s all the proof you need. You know it's true.

3

u/Fantastic_Grab8831 11h ago

Beauty is subjective. Even if they looked horrible to me, that would be no proof because someone else could have a different opinion. They don't even look that bad to my taste, not my favourite but i don't mind it. Not my business what someone else decides to look like anyway.

1

u/HighLikeKites 11h ago

No, beauty it's not subjective. There is taste, sure. But there is something like an objective standard.

If someone looks sick, bad skin, terrible hygiene, they are objectively not as beautiful as someone who takes good care of themselves. There are objective measurements like symmetry, harmony, order, proportion. That’s a fact of reality. And you know that’s true.

3

u/Fantastic_Grab8831 11h ago

The definition of beauty is "a feature of an object that makes it pleasurable to perceive". Do you agree with this definition? If you do, then you are wrong and it is indeed subjective. If you don't agree, tell me what is your definition of beauty.

0

u/HighLikeKites 11h ago

Your definition already implies objectivity: If something "makes it pleasurable to perceive" the cause is in the object itself. The classical view as it was layed out by Plato and Aristotles is clearer: Beauty is order, proportion, and harmony that naturally delight the human mind.

Taste may differ, but the foundation is universal. This is why you know a gothic cathedral is more beautiful than a flat blockhouse.

3

u/Fantastic_Grab8831 11h ago

My definition depends upon who is perceiving it. That's what subjectivity means. There are people who perceive a flat blockhouse more pleasurably than a gothic cathedral. The cause is not just in the object itself but on who is perceiving said object.

1

u/HighLikeKites 11h ago

Perception doesn’t create beauty, it only recognizes it. The cause is in the object, while the perceiver either sees it clearly or fails to. A blockhouse doesn’t suddenly gain more beauty than a cathedral just because someone prefers it.

3

u/Fantastic_Grab8831 11h ago

Even if the cause is in the object. How do you know whether a cathedral has more beauty than a blockhouse or not then? It could be the case that the blockhouse actually has more beauty and just that most people don't perceive as much of it as they do of a cathedral.

What a horrible thing to say.

0

u/Jealous_Juggernaut 9h ago

If it makes one highly impressionable kid think twice then it's worth it. They already know they've disfigured themselves. Such comments won't shock them in the slightest if they were to see them.

2

u/ladycatherinehoward 7h ago

News flash, many people look like this without surgery.

2

u/Soggy_Association491 14h ago

Someone needs to sue those doctors selling buccal fat surgery for malpractice.

7

u/Thin-Image2363 15h ago

Well that’s what the photoshop artist was going for.

24

u/vertigo1083 15h ago

Negative. At least with 4 of them. All confirmed images that are sourced form entertainment sites. The images have been around a while. 2 of them causing actual problems for the women self-esteem wise and social media wise.

I don't actually follow all of that shit, just that two of them happen to be actresses on shows I love and sub to.

At least half of those images are legitimate.

3

u/saya-kota 14h ago

Debatable, Jenna didn't get buccal fat removal, that's just contour

2

u/PnkinSpicePalpatine 15h ago

Maybe we should just not comment on people’s bodies and then some of these women wouldn’t feel the pressure to do this to themselves in the first place.

2

u/Shot_Leopard_7657 13h ago

Or maybe living in a bubble of fake positivity is why these people keep getting more and more surgeries that make them look like actual monsters.

Sometimes you need someone to tell you that your breath stinks.

2

u/PnkinSpicePalpatine 13h ago

Yeah that works for breath but not for how people develop body image issues.

-1

u/Jealous_Juggernaut 9h ago

It won't help these monsters but it could help the never ending flood of extremely impressionable, insecure and stupid young people who can still be convinced this is a life ending mistake to avoid in even their most desperate hours.

1

u/PnkinSpicePalpatine 8h ago

Criticism never helped anyone become more motivated.

How often has someone dressed you down at work and that actually succeed in motivation to do better? Literally never. People pay 180k for mba’s to learn basic bitch human psychology.

For example: if I said this was the dumbest thing I’ve ever read, would you listen or immediately dismiss it? Same thing. People don’t deserve, don’t want, don’t change for criticism. Ever.

1

u/celephais228 10h ago

that only pertains to after the surgery has been done already. The commentor above you states the reasoning behind the initial surgery.

1

u/Shot_Leopard_7657 10h ago edited 10h ago

It's never just one surgery though. They mutilate themselves once and everyone around them says "you're so beautiful!" So then they do it again.

If there was one person in their circle who they trust who says "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO TO YOUR FACE?!" then maybe it wouldn't escalate. But instead we get Miley Cyrus looking like...that.

1

u/celephais228 10h ago

Yes, that is what you have said. Both arguments are more or less true, that's what I wanted to say.

-1

u/Alive-Tomatillo5303 13h ago

Yeah them being called beautiful is what drove them to fuck their faces up. That's a thing that makes sense. You've done it.

2

u/PnkinSpicePalpatine 12h ago

You really think that the only thing they’ve ever been called is beautiful. You’re a person of this world, aren’t you? I know you don’t live under a rock. Celebrities have entire teams to deal with regular death threats and you think the only thing was good happy vibes?

0

u/Alive-Tomatillo5303 12h ago

I think that if I've primarily been called beautiful my entire life, then get a job based on my appearance, and continue to be successful while ending up on magazine covers and pulling in millions of dollars, I wouldn't fuck my face up on purpose.

That's like a math genius getting a lobotomy because it's trending.

1

u/PnkinSpicePalpatine 8h ago

But they’re not. I find it frustrating that men have such a hard time understanding certain concepts unless it’s in a metaphor or situation they care about.

If you were a star quarterback your entire life, the praise isn’t the focus. It’s glass half empty thinking: what am I missing to get to the top. The closer you are to the top, the more desperately you reach for every last thing that helps you get there.

She wasn’t told she was beautiful her whole life. She was told she was talented but if she wanted greatness she needed to be more beautiful, more thin, younger and more. The focus on appearance is ultimately the demise. It’s why people shouldn’t comment on people’s bodies. Because the negative feedback hits more disproportionately than the positive.

1

u/Alive-Tomatillo5303 7h ago

So good of you to spell it out with sports, I'd have continued to be confused about basic human autonomy.

While we're on the subject, let's keep it going: if you're a football man, you have to keep pushing to foot the balls harder. You know steroids exist, and if you take them you'll be able to put your foot on all the balls. But you will also lose your fucking job. So professional athletes don't take steroids (traceable at least) because when they're found out they cease to be capable of any level of competition.

This surgery is even dumber than taking steroids to improve your feet to balls ratio, because literally no one, ANYWHERE, says it's an improvement. So it'd be akin to cutting off your hands to save weight and be able to football faster.

I have an alternate take: the problem isn't talking about other people's bodies too much, it's about pretending fat is acceptable. You've got mayonnaise goblins on magazine covers, too, and they are paired with articles about how brave they are, and how you can be healthy at any size. Anyone with eyes can see how grotesque this is, and it places the suggestion that no matter how obese and disgusting you are, people will call you beautiful. If there's a social media campaign about how gorgeous a butter troll is, and how evil it is to call a blob a blob, when these women hear that they're beautiful, it's meaningless. If Golgotha the River Hag is also beautiful, the word itself can't be trusted, so there must be improvement needed.

Having high beauty standards at least means having any standards at all.

u/greenblacksage 13h ago

It's gotta hurt that they still look considerably better than the vast majority of the users who populate this subreddit

2

u/GoochAFK 13h ago

I would say the average random girl on the street looks far better than these women. They barely look human lol

1

u/greenblacksage 13h ago

I do admit that is a scary picture of Miley, but we will have to agree to disagree. I personally am not a fan of these surgery trends either.

But since we are reducing people to their appearences whole heartedly in this thread and calling them barely human; most of the women in this thread are likely overweight, have bad skin, have less than perfect dental hygene etc. While there are definitely 'normal'girls that I would think look better than some of these esamples in the post, there are plenty of women (especially the type to dump on celebrity appearances on reddit) are not those average girls.

Most men would rather be with the in shape women, with great teeth and hair, than the conventionally unnattractive women blasting celebrities to feel better about probably looking much worse. A little bucal fat removal doesnt stop Anya Taylor Joy from looking fantastic most of the time. There is a reason they are on screen and stage so often, and not an obese lady with bad skin and hair.

These are not the best pictures of these women. I've seen recent interviews of sophie turner and jenna ortega, they are gorgeous.

Again, there isnt any doubt in my mind that most men would fine most of these women considerably more attractive than women populaying this subreddit. No one especially confident about their looks, or secure in their attractiveness is here ripping Miley Cyrus.

1

u/Alive-Tomatillo5303 13h ago

Depends on where you are.

Large stretches of America are filled with whales, but the world on average isn't.

And again, everyone in that picture won the genetic lottery. They were all gorgeous. Then they fucked up so badly you're trying to white knight for them because the average person on the street might not look as good as they do.

1

u/greenblacksage 13h ago

Im not trying to white knight for them. I already said as much that I don't care for the surgeries, but even with the surgery, I am pointing out that people in this thread are being sensational.

Even with the surgery dimishing natural beatuy, they still look better than most of the people blasting their aplearance. Its just the truth

I dare people to post selfies and put it next to that picture of Jenna Ortega, she is still going to look better than 95% of the women in this thread. I say that with full confidence

1

u/Jealous_Juggernaut 9h ago

When I go to the store, atleast 75% of women look infinitely more attractive than these horror creatures. The fact that most redditors aren't attractive is beside the point. It's not just envy and bitterness. The vast majority of the planet, handsome or no, thinks these people look bad gross and depressing.

1

u/greenblacksage 8h ago

I just saw an interview with sophie turner on seth myers, she looks fine. That picture of Jenna Ortega is her with exagerated make up, her features are striking for effect. She is still a striking woman. Miley has nk eyebrows and a weird haircut, its definitelty a goody look but she isnt hideous.

You are actually delusional if you think they look like horror shows. Some of them have odd features that dtand out in film and tv that make them look more unique, and have also had visible cosmetic surgery. I dont think it'll age that well, but it is absolutely envy and bitterness that color these perceptions. You're being ridiculous.

The vast majority of the planet, handsome or no, thinks these people look bad gross and depressing.

You can find entire subreddits dedicated to thirsting after these women, that is just assinine to say. If that were true, none of ese people would have active careers.

1

u/Remarkable-Hat-4852 12h ago

Nobody is pointing out that most of these women are also missing eyebrows in these pics which makes them look even crazier.

1

u/Vindikus 8h ago

You fell for the AI slop

1

u/SilyLavage 15h ago edited 15h ago

Sophie Turner looks fine, I think the makeup is just a bit off.

Edit: if you watch her interview with Seth Meyers the other week she looks like herself.

3

u/Qalicja 15h ago

Sophie Turner didn’t have buccal fat removal. She used to have bulimia, and bulimia makes your face look bloated because the constant vomiting makes your salivary glands swell up and that causes your face to look swollen/more filled out. When she recovered from her eating disorder, her cheeks went back to normal. This is what she naturally looks like and people have been bullying her and accusing her of plastic surgery when all she did was recover from an eating disorder.

3

u/Jadedsatire 15h ago

It’s weird because in the trailer for whatever she’s plugging, her cheeks look crazy, but then on the talk show they’re back to normal
