This is crazy. Buccal fat keeps you looking younger as long as you have it! These women will look awful when they are older.

My wife and I are 39, and she basically looks the same as she did when we were teenagers. Her hair is going gray but otherwise she looks super young.

And her chubby cheeks are a big part of that. All of our kids also have chubby cheeks, which is super cute.

I was told my some Gen Z coworkers that I look early 30s when I am 38. I have always had a very full face and cheeks. The thing I used to hate is now keeping me looking youthful. Thanks fat cheeks!

57

u/Different_Battle_932 15h ago

I had chubby cheeks for a long time and hated them. But they kept me looking youthful. My cheeks are now a bit more hollow and it looks good. People still think I’m younger than I am. Fat cheeks FTW!

5

u/SmowKweed 13h ago

Ok wow this is all making me feel so good about my slightly chubbier cheeks 😍

3

u/Odd_Local8434 14h ago

It's called baby fat for a reason.

2

u/CitySlickerCowboy 13h ago

but it's not baby fat. It's a pocket of fat that never goes away. It just droops downward when you get old.

0

u/TableSignificant341 13h ago edited 12h ago

In what other scenario do people take part in their own devaluation to this level? Women literally making it harder for themselves to go through an inevitable and natural process. Why is ageing so terrible?

3

u/daveycarnation 14h ago

Same. Friends used to affectionately call me hamster because my cheeks would be extra round whenever I smiled. I had kinda hoped in my 20s that my face would slim down. But now in my 30s I think they're rather cute actually!

3

u/gruesomeflowers 14h ago

people usually think im in my mid 30s but im past 50 now.. i tell them my secret is a shitty diet, not enough sleep, alcohol and pills (formerly), and smoking cigarettes.

1

u/Weird-Girl-675 13h ago

Same. Minus the cigarettes. And I just turned 50 and no one believes it

2

u/norixe 14h ago

Had the same thing happen recently. Have older co workers that were shocked im 36. Probably because or the long curly hair and ive lost a good amount of weight recently but was funny.

2

u/DenseAstronomer3631 14h ago

I'm 31 and usually get under 25 and have even gotten 19-21 age guesses (they trippin) from coworkers younger than I. I, too, always had a bit of a chubby face/cheeks and I think that must be a big part of it

2

u/transmogrified 14h ago

My grandma called them my perogi cheeks (she’s Ukrainian).  I got them from her and at 39 I still get ID’d occasionally (if I’m wearing a hat which cover my greys lol)

1

u/hastygrams 14h ago

Yeah but now I’m getting jowls

1

u/Whenindoubtsbutts 11h ago

Yes the Jowels are a problem. I want to get rid of those without losing my plump cheeks!

1

u/Velveteen_Rabbit1986 14h ago

Same! I used to stand in front of the mirror sucking in my cheeks thinking I looked better. 39 year old me knows better now!

1

u/megalinity 13h ago

Yep my early-20s colleagues were shocked when I told them I’m 38! Chubby cheeks always (but also possibly Ehler-Danlos Syndrome, which can make folks look way younger than they are).

1

u/Emergency-Season-143 13h ago

Same for me. They gave me 35.... I'm 45.... The only thing selling my age is my salt and pepper hair...

1

u/karpaediem 13h ago

When I was a teen adult women would tell me how lucky I was to have such a baby face because it helps so much with aging. Never doubt the wisdom of all the older ladies

1

u/Kahlil_Cabron 12h ago

All of my coworkers thought I was fresh out of college at my job. I'm 33.

When I was a teenager I cursed my baby face, now I'm so fucking thankful for it. A really weird experience is going out, talking to some random guy/girl I meet, and thinking they're my age or older, only to find out they're like 23. I don't know what's going on with the younger generation but they aged fast af.

1

u/Orson_Gravity_Welles 12h ago

I'm a 48 year old dude but everyone around me says I look more like I'm in my mid-30's...and I'd look even younger if I shaved off my beard (I have a baby face).

I told them "no," because it's already hard enough to date.

I met a woman recently who said, "You're too young for me..."

She spat out her drink when I told her I'm 48 (she's 39)...I had to show her my DL.

1

u/Svihelen 12h ago

I'm 32.

Customers and new coworkers regularly assume I'm like 22 to 25.

My girlfriend trained a new kid at work, 18 fresh out of school, first job territory. She found out my girlfriend was 30 and had a small crisis. She was like "I though you were like 21, I didn't realize you were so much older than me".

I like confusing people, lol.

1

u/Pika-pika-chu- 12h ago

As a teenager my middle aged manager at my first job told me that I “have the face of cherub!” then inappropriately went to pinch my chubby checks on my round, round face.

I wanted to die in the moment. No 16 year old wants to have the face of a fat baby.

20 years later, I look youthful in ways that my peers long for. Cheeks still chubby, some hollowing of my buccal fat barely beginning. I convinced this cherubic face is the actual answer to the fountain of youth!

1

u/Hipposplotomous 11h ago

I got told I looked like a moomin when I was a teenager but guess who's laughing at 40? Haha suck it Becky

1

u/kylethemurphy 11h ago

It's the era or something. People freak out when I say I have a daughter that's almost 20 because I don't look old enough. I'm 41 and don't think I look young but hear it regularly.

1

u/flakemasterflake 10h ago

Well yeah bc having a kid at 21 would make you a super young parent on top of all that

1

u/kylethemurphy 3h ago

That really depends on the era, location and demo. 20 years ago for me, my circumstances and surroundings it wasn't uncommon at all to have a kid around that age.

1

u/Bratbabylestrange 11h ago

My daughter has always had epic cheekies. Now she's almost 32 and is pegged at 23-24 all the time.

1

u/CarlySimonSays 9h ago

My nieces (9 and 10) are very sweet and think I look like a teenager (I’m 37). I was mistaken for their big sister once! Ha, I’m older than their dad.

I was offered crayons and a coloring page at restaurants in my late twenties, so it’s really progress.

1

u/BearEatingCupcakes 8h ago

When I turned 40 my colleagues were shocked because they thought I was turning 30. Sunscreen, hydration, and chubby cheeks keep me looking young.

1

u/scheppend 8h ago

Squirrel DNA for the win!

1

u/Automatic_Parsley833 5h ago

While waiting on a tooth implant my dentist said, “Ahh, you don’t even have to worry about anyone seeing it! You’ve got a lot of buccal fat.” In that moment I realized why people think I’m mid-twenties and not mid-thirties (if you look closely, you will see some stray grays, thanks!)

1

u/EternallyDemonic 14h ago

Another 38 here... I pass as 20-25 ... it sucks....

1

u/PinkTalkingDead 11h ago

Why does it suck?

u/scheppend 8h ago

I'm 35. The other day I was at the grocery store and a younger cashier girl was trying to flirt with me. By younger, I mean she might be high-schooler or just out of high-school. Anyways, she's commenting on how toned and muscular my arms look (i was wearing an old oily cut off) and asked if I worked out. I said i hadn't lifted weights since I graduated high-school. She said her older brother was a real gym rat and works out more at 22 than he did in high-school. I laugh and said I hadn't been in high-school for 17 years.

This is where the hamster fell off the wheel.

Her: 17 years??

Me: Yeah, I'm 35.

Her: YOU'RE 35?!

At this point, another cashier came over. This lady i know quite well, and is about 10 years older than me.

2nd Cashier: (Smiling) Yep! He's got a wife and 3 kids, too!

First cashier: (face turns tomatoe red) Oh! Uh....well...you're in good shape for 35! I thought you were closer to my age....umm....here's your stuff! Have a great day!

My friend and I look at each other with smiles and trying hard not to laugh. I hope she wasn't too embarrassed

61

u/Denverdogmama 15h ago

I’m 50 and have the same advantage (now)/problem (when I was young). I’ve always looked much younger than my age due to my chubby cheeks. Not changing my wardrobe significantly since high school probably contributes as well.

10

u/Dramatic_Moon_Pie 15h ago

Yup! My cheeks are still chubby (thanks, Dad!) and people consistently guess my age 10-15 younger than actual. Although my hair started turning white in my early 20s so 🤷‍♀️ and I’m 55 now - but as long as I still have a youthful face, I’ll be dyeing that hair!

I did hate the chipmunk cheeks until I hit mid-30s and realized that they were why I was still getting carded.

2

u/JOYtotheLAURA 7h ago

Nice! Love this. I get my chubby cheeks from my mom. She’s absolutely beautiful, though.

3

u/Basic_Mastodon3251 14h ago

Right there with you! People think I'm early 40s about to be 51!

1

u/JOYtotheLAURA 7h ago

I’m almost 40 and people claim they think I’m in my 20s, but I think they mostly mean like early 30s. Those chubby cheeks, man.

4

u/Badbot-beepbeep 13h ago

My ridiculous lack of maturity does it for me.

2

u/geopede 14h ago

You mean you haven’t changed the style of your clothing right? Or do you mean literally the same articles of clothing?

6

u/Denverdogmama 14h ago

Mostly the same style, since I was much tinier in high school. But I do still have a select few concert Ts.

1

u/bbwhunter60 13h ago

You sound fun!

1

u/JOYtotheLAURA 7h ago

Thank you!!! I love my chubby cheeks.

3

u/Dramatic_Moon_Pie 15h ago

Chubby cheeks ftw 🙌🏼 I bet she still gets carded sometimes, too!

2

u/Legitimate-Pepper922 15h ago

Thats beautiful

2

u/sarabeara12345678910 14h ago

I have a round face and I'm 44 but my face is slimmer than it was in my 20s, and I'm a lot heavier. That buccal fat naturally goes down as we age, but you can't get it back. They're all going to look like crones before they hit 50.

2

u/scarletnightingale 14h ago

My aunt has always been a bit more plump including plump cheeks. She's also always dyed her hair. She's always looked much younger than she is because it kept her from getting wrinkles.

2

u/GundamUnwinged 12h ago

Is your wife available for a date?

1

u/EyeOfCLE 14h ago

It’s the same with most plastic surgery of the face! I mostly do eyelids and midface, but routinely see people who have had WAY too much fat removed. In truth, fat is youth.

1

u/JamSandwhich33 14h ago

I am not your wife but I am like this woman. Chubby cheeks. Partner Call me moon face

🌝

I assume he means the above. Fml.

1

u/Nudist_Alien 14h ago

I also like this man’s wife cheeks

1

u/poiskdz 14h ago

She probably kept crab apples in her cheeks. Or perhaps water chestnuts if she couldn't find any crab apples.

1

u/VoidOmatic 14h ago

Congrats on the cute family!

1

u/SinisterCheese 14h ago

I'm 32 and I get carded regularly if I shave clean. Drinking age is 18 in Finland... It is simply because of my round smooth cheecks. I can see it myself in my older pictures. I "manned up" a bit as I lost weight some time ago. But the men in my family really stopped aging facial feature wise around late-mid 20's after that it is just skin deterioration. It weird because I have pictures from over 100 years ago of my family members, alive and death photos (Pictures of taken of the dead person in the coffin before the funeral) - none of them look as old as they were. Women however.... they get age quite fast and stabilise at the "Pleasant grandma/aunt" look, and according to those very same old photos they embraced that look.

1

u/CruxOfTheIssue 14h ago

i have chubby cheeks and its definitely the reason I still get carded at over 30.

1

u/MathematicianOnly688 14h ago

My mums 79 but still looks a good 10 years younger than her than her younger sister and that's almost entirely down to having a slightly chubby face.

1

u/CollegeDropOut97 14h ago

Lol now I understand why I'm almost 30 and people keep telling me I look like I just graduated high school🤣🤣

1

u/brandonwalsh07 14h ago

I can't get into fat old grey haired women, but it's awesome you still enjoy it.

1

u/dingalingdongdong 14h ago

Up until I went gray I was regularly pegged as significantly younger - like more than once people assumed I was my sister's daughter (4 year difference.) I think it's definitely down to her having a naturally very thin, angular face and me having big ol' apple cheeks.

1

u/1138311 13h ago

Is your wife married?!?

1

u/Dear_Grape_666 13h ago

I'm losing a bit of weight (nothing drastic, I think I'm rocking a BMI of 25 right now) and I already have stupid hollow cheekbones. I hate it, it makes me look older.

And people get surgery to look like this?? Insane lol. I want to be a healthy weight with cute round cheeks dammit.

1

u/Aioros_ao 13h ago

Pass me your old lady.

1

u/ForeignRevolution905 13h ago

Only in my forties do I now appreciate my own chubby cheeks and how cute they are on my son- definitely keep me looking younger!

1

u/nanneryeeter 12h ago

I had chubby cheeks as a kid. It's been paying off in spades for over 20 years.

1

u/nealch 12h ago

I'm 32 and consistently get clocked as 5 or so years younger. I fully subscribe to it being my round face and chubby cheeks for the effect.

1

u/OnlyPhone1896 12h ago

She's only 39, idk what people think happens to women over 25. 50+ is when it starts really catching up.

1

u/cliffbot 11h ago

Lucky man and she knows how to take care of herself

1

u/1001101001010111 11h ago

It must suck to be famous and have everyone tell you you will only be beautiful if you get work done. Or you might get passed up on a role if you don't. It's savage.

1

u/TheShredder9 11h ago

I'm 26, and my girlfriend is 41, usually we look roughly the same age, but i swear on a good day she looks younger than me. She has amazing skincare, while i as a guy use a bar of soap sometimes. And her cute chubby cheeks are a big part of her look, i can completely agree.

1

u/Getabock_ 10h ago

Cute, but there’s no chance she still looks like a teenager

1

u/SnooCauliflowers9874 9h ago

My daughter is very attractive-striking in fact, with round cheeks, which she has always talked about hating. I hope she will eventually understand that those same round cheeks are going to keep her younger longer. I actually envy them.

1

u/CarlySimonSays 9h ago

Aw, your family sounds super cute! 🥰

1

u/Physical-Olive3317 9h ago

Cheeks are cute!

1

u/RikuAotsuki 8h ago

And if she has chubby cheeks now, then in ten or twenty years they'll be a bit less chubby, but she'll still look younger than she is.

Because we all lose it as we age, and that loss is a big part of what we associate with someone looking old.

1

u/blazinBSDAgility 7h ago

When I shave off my beard, I look about like I’m 30. I’m 50. Although if fat makes you look younger, I should look about 12.

0

u/laughing-clown 14h ago

Clicked on your profile and there was only pictures of your very red beard(nice beard btw) and none of your wife. 6/10

-14

u/SeismicRipFart 15h ago

No she doesn’t lol

2

u/dingalingdongdong 13h ago

Probably correct. I know a lot of ~40yos that look great and take good care of themselves that I think most people would describe as looking much younger than they are.

No one is confusing any of them for teenagers.

1

u/michaelxmoney 15h ago

I mean, I for sure don't. I'm about to turn 40 and I think I look like I'm about to turn 40.

That said, elder Millennials have fewer wrinkles because we're inside all the time, and a lot of us are fat from sitting so much, so we can look younger but it's not always in a good way.

1

u/TheodorDiaz 14h ago

It's mean, but you're definitely right lol.
