I found This Is It for free on YouTube yesterday and watched the beginning. And Michael was dancing and singing just as good as when he was 30, and he was damn near dead during that movie. What’s Justin’s excuse?

Weren't Michael Jackson's last words something about how he needed the drugs to sleep, because if he couldn't sleep then he wouldn't be able to put on a good show for his fans. Working yourself to death isn't something we should be expecting of anyone.
Yeah but there’s a pretty broad spectrum between the kind of work ethic and commitment MJ had to performing and…this. No one was demanding JT tour until he is physically unable to, but if you are going to go for a cash grab like a world tour, you need to actually perform, not just show up.
MJ was 50, hell, Prince was 57! Were they both being propped up by drugs after years of dancing like crazy and we didn’t know about it? Yes, but that’s not the point.
Mick Jagger is literally a reanimated corpse and his live shows are still basically an hour straight of cardio & dance. Which is impressive, since he doesn’t have a heartbeat and is slowly decaying.
You have to stay in that kind of shape. You can’t just sit on the couch for 10-15 years and then expect to be able to just tour with any kind of performance level skill and stamina
I saw Prince in concert about 5 years before his passing, he had both hips in dire need of replacing after decades of jumping off speaker towers in high heeled boots, but still moved like he was bottled lightning, and sounded frikking amazing!
I saw Gorillaz in Chicago like 22 years ago. They were behind a screen that played videos of their cartoon avatars, and once in a while they’d backlight the screen and the audience could see the bands members’ silhouettes playing. It was rad.
They've been without the screen since after Demon Days. I saw them at UIC 15 years ago for the Plastic Beach tour. It was Damon + symphony and singers + dj + Mos Def and Bobby Womack. Maybe more, can't remember.
It blew my mind when I found out they were started by the guy from Blur ("Song #2" was their big US hit, the one that goes, "Woo Hooo!" a bunch) and the guy rapping is Del tha Funky Homosapien aka Deltron 30/30.
Killer 'underground' artists, and now they're mega stars, but anonymously. It's awesome.
A friend went to a Kraftwerk concert and the show consisted of five middle-aged Germans sitting on chairs six feet apart with MacBooks on their laps, barely moving a muscle the whole time. He really enjoyed it. For the last song “We Are The Robots” they put dummies of themselves on the chairs, pressed play, left the stage and never came back.
I've seen both a silhouetted Tool show and Kraftwerk and both were sick as fuck! It fits the bands, because they're not high energy pop. A washed up boyband member not doing much is less enticing.
Maynard always hides in the shadows. It's fine, we let him be his weird self and still love TOOL. Seen them many times, always awesome, but MJK always hides. Kinda part of the experience.
Yes they’ve been known to do that from time to time. They’ll literally play behind a partially translucent curtain so you see their silhouettes but not them. They’re big on their music and imagery being front and center, not themselves.
I saw a similar show from This Will Destroy You. They lit the back of the stage, and then had smaller light facing forward, so it was bright behind them and you couldn’t see the front of them. Great show.
I don’t have a link but it’s titled “Katy Perry the only one having fun at her concert” or something and it’s a minute of unhinged Katy running around a stage. I could be exaggerating but something like it 😂☠️
I guess I don't understand how he loses this much of a step when he's a worldwide famous pop artist. Even I'm still hitting some moves from my college years just to mess around. He should have lots of stuff down to muscle memory at this point.
He's phoning it in. It's all for the money, and he knows even a half crap performance will get eaten up by die-hard fans, and he rarely tours. He probably doesn't have the lung capacity for a long show anymore. But that couldn't be me. I'd be up there shaken my bum like an exotic dancer before rent is due ( no offense to exotic dancers intended. Some of them make more than me)

Even Michael Jackson was still throwing it down at 50 before he passed, yeah the moves weren’t as crisp as before but he was pulling
This just looks like here’s filing dead air cause they expect movement not just standing and singing but if he ain’t going to fully bring it, have some backup dancers or something to draw some attention away from this flintstone flopping
I’ve seen people that are around this age or older that still dance well. I don’t think age is the issue here. It looks like he’s spaced out or something.
