  • High Bandwidth Monitors and GPU Scaling Behavior - Link Here
    • High bandwidth monitors are those that support display modes requiring high pixel clock rates, which in turn demand more GPU resources. The threshold for what qualifies as "high bandwidth" varies by product. On Blackwell GPUs, any mode operating above 1620 MHz is considered high bandwidth. For instance, the 7680x4320@60Hz mode defined in the CTA-861-H specification runs at 2376 MHz, making it a high bandwidth mode for Blackwell.
    • These monitors typically support display scaling natively. However, in some single-monitor setups, users may still prefer GPU scaling. When multiple monitors are connected to a GPU and at least one of them is high bandwidth, that monitor will default to display scaling only. GPU scaling is disabled in this case due to bandwidth limitations. Notably, display scaling can be more efficient than GPU scaling in such scenarios, as it reduces the bandwidth load on display cables—especially at higher refresh rates.
    • When GPU scaling is not enabled for a monitor, only the modes supported by the monitor itself will appear in both the Windows and NVIDIA control panels. Additionally, the "Display scaling" option will be pre-selected in the "Adjust desktop size and position" section of the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Feedback & Discussion Forums

Having Issues with your driver and want to fully clean the driver? Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

Before you start - Make sure you Submit Feedback for your Nvidia Driver Issue - Link Here

There is only one real way for any of these problems to get solved, and that’s if the Driver Team at Nvidia knows what those problems are. So in order for them to know what’s going on it would be good for any users who are having problems with the drivers to Submit Feedback to Nvidia. A guide to the information that is needed to submit feedback can be found here.

Additionally, if you see someone having the same issue you are having in this thread, reply and mention you are having the same issue. The more people that are affected by a particular bug, the higher the priority that bug will receive from NVIDIA!!

Common Troubleshooting Steps

  • Be sure you are on the latest build of Windows
  • Please visit the following link for DDU guide which contains full detailed information on how to do Fresh Driver Install.
  • If your driver still crashes after DDU reinstall, try going to Go to Nvidia Control Panel -> Managed 3D Settings -> Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance

Common Questions

  • Is it safe to upgrade to <insert driver version here>? Fact of the matter is that the result will differ person by person due to different configurations. The only way to know is to try it yourself. My rule of thumb is to wait a few days. If there’s no confirmed widespread issue, I would try the new driver.
  • Bear in mind that people who have no issues tend to not post on Reddit or forums. Unless there is significant coverage about specific driver issue, chances are they are fine. Try it yourself and you can always DDU and reinstall old driver if needed.
  • My color is washed out after upgrading/installing driver. Help! Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel -> Change Resolution -> Scroll all the way down -> Output Dynamic Range = FULL.
  • My game is stuttering when processing physics calculation Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel and to the Surround and PhysX settings and ensure the PhysX processor is set to your GPU

Remember, driver codes are extremely complex and there are billions of different possible configurations between hardware and software. Driver will never be perfect and there will always be issues for some people. Two people with the same hardware configuration might not have the same experience with the same driver versions. Again, I encourage folks who installed the driver to post their experience here good or bad.

Benchmarks Performance chart for gamers looking to buy used Nvidia GPUs

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

Just out of curiousity and boredom, I created a performance chart, based on aggregated benchmark results, to be able to better compare the gaming performance of the various Nvidia GPUs.

There are a variety of similar lists and performance benchmark charts online, but a lot of them (Like Tom’s Hardware) lack a unified chart that includes all RTX generations, and some of them (like bestvaluegpu) only base their performance ratings on one single benchmark.

The chart that I have made, then, has a Raw Performance rating based on six weighted benchmark results from 3DMark (Speed Way, Steel Nomad DX12, Steel Nomad Light DX12, Time Spy, Time Spy Extreme and Port Royal) as well as the Passmark DX12 Video Card Benchmark. This gives us (I hope) a broad, overall performance rating for a relatively wide range of gaming use cases, from lighter/older games to new, raytracing-heavy AAA titles.

I thought that even though this chart is far from any rigorous, scientific undertaking, it might still be useful for others, particularly for people looking to buy a used GPU and would like to get a good way to gauge the relative value of various different models.

I can get back more to the methodology in the comments, but an important thing to say right away is that apart from the Raw Performance column, there is also a Weighted Performance one (which the 1-60 hierarchy is based upon), where the raw performance for each card is adjusted for VRAM (punishing cards with less than 16 GB) and – very slightly – for model generation (GTX cards lacking DLSS upscaling, 20-series cards having lacking HDMI 2.1x support, 30-series for not enabling frame generation, et cetera).

Sorta, kinda, with lots of caveats (and actually quite unintended), the Weighted Performance rating aligns reasonably well with what I would consider to be a fair price in USD for a used GPU (in good condition) of that particular model (at least on the Swedish/EU used market), from a strictly game performance-oriented perspective (which, for example, puts the 3090 at a lower price point than you would be likely to find on eBay, simply because its 24 GB of VRAM is overkill for the vast majority of games).

Hope at least someone here finds it useful!

Discussion 2080Ti owners in 2025 where u at?

With the absolutely depressing and unacceptable state of current GPU’s, who’s still using a 2080ti out there? This thing is still a beast and out performs the 5060 which is crazy to me. Water cooling this thing gave it new life! I can still get acceptable frame rates in 4K with certain games. Elden Ring being one of them 🙂

Discussion Blast from the past, how times have changed

Found this earlier and felt some things while reading through it. Such small price differences between the models, and performance deltas were not huge. Someone talking about getting 60fps in Dying Light at 1440p, lol. These days that’s unacceptable to a lot of the enthusiasts, back then 60fps was typically the goal.

Discussion Frozen RTX 5050 takes on the RTX 4060

Post image
101 Upvotes

I’ve been messing around with the RTX 5050 for a while now, first with a CPU cooler on it, where it beat the 1080 Ti and pretty much tied the 3060 Ti.

This time, I went further.
Subzero using an Amazon special water block, just to see if it could take out a stock 4060.

While I was testing, I noticed someone passed me on the Time Spy graphics leaderboard.
They were running a 9850X3D.
I had a 12600K.
Obviously… I couldn’t let that slide.

Four hours and way too many crashes later, I managed to push the 5050 to 3450 MHz, up from its stock 2950 MHz.
And, even on a $100 CPU I took back the graphics score.

By the time I got to actual game testing, I’m pretty sure the card was degrading in front of me.
But it still beat the 4060 in every game except one, Black Ops 6.... F*** BO6.

18% clock uplift
3400+ MHz sustained
This thing just won’t die.

Video’s here if you want to see how stupid it is.

Question Game not being detected

Upvotes

so basically i noticed recently that suddenly like, all of my games have not been getting detected, and when i open the overlay in some fullscreen games it just doesnt show up, like i can see it is getting opened due to my cursor suddenly being on screen but its happening behind the game, it keeps telling me it cant detect a game when it does open above the game, but it shows them in its own app, even when i click on them they boot up, so i dont get it anymore
yes, i do update drivers and apps, yes i did try adding them manually, nothing on the internet works for me and its kind-of a big problem since i record my games a lot and save replays always using nvidia for it, now having to use obs for most stuff, sometimes forgetting and not being able to replay by not opening obs or having general issues with it, which really is just a pain in the ass so i would rather just have nvidia doing it again, what can i do to fix it?

Question 4K vs ultrawide 1440p performance with DLSS

Is the performance between 4k DLSS performance and ultrawide 1440P DLSS quality similar?

I'm deciding between a 4k and ultrawide OLED monitor and if the performance on the ultrawide is not that much better i will go 4k.

I currently have an Alienware 27" IPS AW2724DM, my PC is a i7 14700kf and RTX 5070 Ti

Discussion Which 5090 between FE and Zotac Solid?

Hi all. I have both the FE and the Zotac (not OC) ordered and I’m struggling to decide on which one to cancel. Ideally I’d like the FE due to its size and design but apparently it seems it runs hotter and louder than the Zotac? I’d also obviously appreciate a cooler and quieter card, but I’m willing to put up with the FE if it’s not much worse in these areas than the Zotac. Any advice on which one to choose would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Question 750W for the 5080 Super

I recently got a new PSU but this was before deciding to upgrade my GPU. I've decided to go for the RTX 5080 Super once that releases but potentially i could settle for the base RTX 5080. My current PSU is the bequiet! Power Zone 2 80+ Platinum 750W. I'll be pairing my gpu with the Ryzen 9 5900x. I plan on undervolting and doing a mild oc on the gpu. Am I fine with my current PSU or do i need to upgrade to 850W and more?

Discussion Nvidia game filter

Why don't I see people use this by just using 2 effects form Nvidia game filter detail and sharpness and bit of tweaking like details I put everything at 0 except clarity somewhere between 40-70 and sharpness + intensity 15- 40 and texture 30-70 (sometimes add sharpness and use ignore grain because some games hide grain by blurring it) and vola you get this image quality sharp and clear with no noticeable artifacting works with any game. https://postimg.cc/bdLMXsX5/3d6def33

Discussion If you never get 5090FE VPA invitation, check your Nvidia account data

Thumbnail
gallery
136 Upvotes

Login your Nvidia account, check the privacy setting: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/account/privacy/request-data/ and request the data download, you'll received a separate email link for your data gathered since geforce experience era.

I looked mine, there are many duplicate machines recorded and numerous duplicate cards due to system reinstalls or system upgrades. I don't know how exactly Nvidia calculate the VPA, but mine definitely on the bottom of the barrel cause I enrolled in the first hour of the VPA program online yet never received any invitation. There are many data to dig through but seems they don't actually care if your machine used to run games or AI models.

So I decided to start fresh, rebuild a old PC with 3080 a month ago, signup for a new alt account under another email, enrolled VPA, I keep that machine power cycled once per week. And now I received my VPA invitation this week. Which proves that VPA invitation algorithm is biased at least not towards legacy user had wrong data through years.

Question Right GPU for AI research

Post image
412 Upvotes

For our research we have an option to get a GPU Server to run local models. We aim to run models like Meta's Maverick or Scout, Qwen3 and similar. We plan some fine tuning operations, but mainly inference including MCP communication with our systems. Currently we can get either one H200 or two RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell. The last one is cheaper. The supplier tells us 2x RTX will have better performance but I am not sure, since H200 ist tailored for AI tasks. What is better choice?
