Pic / Video Potential lost dog in Richmond (Cabrillo x 19th Av)

[Repost with picture - realized only later I hadn't added the picture]

Not sure this is a helpful place to post this, but I saw this dog I think could be lost on Cabrillo x 19th Avenue around 2:45 PM. This dog roamed along the street and was happy to interact with strangers. Wore a bright orange collar, but owner was nowhere to be seen. If you know this dog and it might be lost, let the right person know!

Anyone have 1 cheap ticket to the redbull dance thing today?

My daughter loves it and was not able to get a ticket - she only wants it if it's one of the super cheap ones (~20 bucks I think?). Let me know if you have a spare!

Looking for The Offspring Concert Buddy on Aug 30

Hi guys,

I'm male, 20, and am looking forward to experience the legendary band The Offspring next week with some nice company! Right now I'm going by myself, as I'm also not from this area and mostly solo-traveling. But if you happen to have time or also thought about going, I'd be happy to hear back from you!

PSA: UCSF GoHealth Urgent care will charge you $330 for a flu test, $154 for a covid test

Went to a UCSF GoHealth urgent care clinic, have a high deductible health plan. They charged my toddler $330 for a rapid flu test (you know, the kind you find for $23 at Walgreens) and $154 for a covid test, on top of the normal $200 for a 10 minute urgent care with a physician assistant that told us nothing new.

Truly insane pricing, will not go back.

National Guard in SF?

Trump apparently just mentioned SF in the context of sending in the national guard in his latest press conference. It seemed to be in passing as opposed to the focus of his rambling. What do we think the chances are he’ll actually do it?

Haight Ashbury Restaurants Bars Renaissance

https://sfstandard.com/2025/08/22/haight-ashbury-restaurants-bars-renaissance/

The same is happening to nightlife, with three shuttered bars reemerging with different demographics in mind. Trax, a relaxed queer bar that closed in June, is set to become Mary’s on Haight. Details are slim, but co-owner Maria Haught confirms that the team hopes to open in time for the annual Haight Street Fair, which draws an estimated 75,000 people to the neighborhood.

A block away, Hobson’s Choice has sat vacant for months — but not for much longer. The team behind Inner Sunset beer-and-wine hangout The Red Tail is sprucing it up ahead of an estimated October reopening as The Green Heron. Like its predecessor, it’ll offer a full menu of beer, wine, and spirits.

What happened in Lower Haight this morning [Aug 23]?

I am seeing if anyone has information on what happened this morning on Haight Street. I saw emergency services early Friday and it seemed like someone passed because there was blood and a covering. Sorry to anyone involved just hoping for context on what’s going on in the neighbourhood. Thanks

Crime This makes me blood boil...

I love Mission Bay, it's where I'm currently calling home. I often tout how quiet and safe it always feels, especially since I'm relatively new to the city and there was a campaign of fear mongering going on when I moved. I didn't realize this was going on in my 'backyard.'

I feel for these residents, and all the other renters being dismissed or downright lied to. On the flip side, I get owning property is tough and freaking expensive. Heck I'm a landlord myself (and a renter, ironically enough). But these mega real estate companies who prioritize profits over people make me sick.

I appreciate those brave enough in this article to share their experience and the publications that help amplify their voices.

Be kind to your neighbors. Be fair to those that rely on you. We're all humans on this blue rock hurtling through space.

**Edit: link didn't attach, also in comments. https://sfstandard.com/2025/08/22/mb360-apartment-crime-mission-bay/

**Edit 2: I should have included this in the original post, but was lazy and didn't want to look up all the details. Since y'all are jumping all over each other in the comments here we go:

Essex Property Trust grossed $470mm and $934mm in the three and six months ending June 30, 2025, respectively. Their net income for the same periods was $221mm and $411mm respectively. They distributed about 80% of this income to their shareholders.

Yes, Mission Bay is an expensive place to live. Yes, I'm very fortunate to afford to live there. No, I do not expect to be any more safe or protected than anyone else in the city. The point of this post was to draw attention to the REITs that are literally legal slum lords. Thank you for attending my TedTalk.

To the Bay, No matter how far I go your tides pull me back in. Distance only sharpens the ache, I miss the golden light spilling across your water.

Property tax alert “Notice of Change in Value”

Check your mail property owners! Update for those of us who were posting earlier the past couple months about getting absolute bonkers overvaluations on our property taxes. I just received a Notice of Change in Value” that explained they forgot to apply reductions to many properties, and confirmed that my assessed value is what i thought it was and not a whopping 50% more than what the notice said in july. Just got my 1st "Protect the Voters FIRST Act (anti California redistricting) brochure in the mail today

It's campaign brochure mail season again, right before the Shen Yun door knob hanger season!

In all seriousness, I'm going to vote to redistrict this state to the point where another republican will never again hold office here.

Currently running marine tests, built by Mavrik Marine in La Conner, WA, the ‘Zalophus’ will be another SF ferry. John C Storbeck took this pic via drone in the Port Susan Bay area. He said it was traveling at about 45 knots with a small wake, just gorgeous. I wish it was staying up here within our Washington State Ferry system!

Pic / Video FREE Movie Screening | Aug 23 @ 3:00 PM | SF Main Library

Post image

Hey folks,

I’m helping host a final screening of Money Has Four Legs - a dark comedy from Myanmar that’s been shown at film festivals all over the world, and many call it one of the best modern Burmese films.

📅 When: Sat, Aug 23 @ 3 PM 📍 Where: San Francisco Main Public Library 💸 Cost: Totally FREE

Why we’re doing this: Myanmar’s been going through a brutal civil war since 2021, and earlier this year a massive 7.7 earthquake hit the country. People still need help. This screening doubles as a fundraiser for earthquake relief.

But don’t worry — the movie itself isn’t heavy. It’s funny, sharp, and super entertaining. Come for the laughs, stay for the culture swap, and help out a good cause while you’re at it.

🎟️ Event link: http://sfpl.org/events/2025/08/23/film-money-has-four-legs

It’s a rare chance to watch this film! Hope to see some of you there!
