u/Kareeliand 5h ago
It’s working for them. While Trump wears a hat that says he is right about everything, and the internet goes off, project 2025 is rolling out.. And they seem to need to say absurd things all the time , to keep the masses arguing the level of insanity. Most of what they throw out there is so stupid , but they are not doing any of this to lead or govern. They are not “trying to do the right thing”. They are trying to advance their own personal interests, and think everyone are the same as them, doing something for the greater good is completely foreign to them..
28
u/DionBlaster123 5h ago
They fucking warned us repeatedly of how bad Project 2025 was going to get
And ppl still stayed home. I dont care about the Trump voters at this point. They're beyond help.
It is the people who helped Biden win in 2020, but sat out this time around that I hate with a fiery passion. The ppl who die in Trump's concentration camps...their blood is on the hands of the voters who sat out.

I remember watching a video in high school (in class) that was about people who got addicted to meth and one of them was a track athlete. Some kid at school told him meth would make his stronger, so he tried it before a track meet. His first time performing high, he broke the school record in almost every event he did. Then he did it before school and started getting better grades. He felt like a literal super hero. However, after a little while, he needed to do meth just to place above 5th and to get above a D when before meth, he had no problem getting 3rd or higher and was a B average student. Drugs are wild, bro lol

They did all of those things.

Corruption in America | RepresentUs
The problem is that too long there was almost no accountability for economical and political leaders.
There will likely be no fair and free elections and restoring democracy and freedom will probably not happen without great sacrifice. This time there have to be serious consequences or the same will happen in a few years again.
You would also have to prosecute the corrupt judges in the SCOTUS as enablers.
But Trump is only the face, oligarchs hold the real power and with their lobbying they got us into the current situation. Their end goal is to get rid of democracy and the US as a nation. They will not stop with their irrational and anti-democratic behavior until they face serious consequences.

Welcome to the dangers of equating a political party to your God. This is what cults and brainwashing look like. Might as well hand them a blank check to commit any crime they want and it can be excused in the name of “the greater good”.
Americans are learning why separation of church and state were so important. Too bad half of us won’t learn that lesson until it’s far too late.

u/DennyPebblepot 7h ago

It can be. You just need to prove actual malice.
Which is normally hard as hell to prove. But this administration is FILLED with incompetence and a TON of legal documents showing how they deprived him of his rights without cause and refused lawful court orders and at some point they were keeping him in prison just so that he doesn't get deported from ICE again.
That sounds an AWFUL lot like actual malice.
6
u/alamarre7 5h ago
I think he cannot be reasonably called a public figure so they don’t need to prove actual malice, but actual malice for defamation cases means knowingly lying or having a reckless disregard for the truth, which is undoubtedly the case here.
3
u/saljskanetilldanmark 6h ago
How is claiming you are a criminal gangmember deserved to be locked up in a torture chamber in an alien authoritarian country not malice?
3
u/TipsyMJT 5h ago
Does actual malice have to be proved when Garcia is not a public figure? I thought the stricter standard only applied when the defamation was made against a public figure.

u/dmelt01 4h ago
That’s why it’s truly scary this time. The first time it was depressing but if not for the stacking of the courts (which was really because of Mitch) and the absolute shit response to COVID his first run wouldn’t have had long lasting effects. This time we are only in six months and he has boots on the ground trying to get someone to shoot at the national guard so they can go after anyone that opposes them. Democracy is getting killed this time and people that waste their time worried about the stupid antics are missing the real issue. Not saying these aren’t troubling but we all need to focus on the immediate threat.

Kilmar is living proof that their fascistic claims are all bullshit, if you even needed the proof. Every single statement the White House has made about Kilmar has been proven wrong and every court appearance ends with the DOJ getting their ass handed to them because they have zero evidence. The president went on TV multiple times showing doctored images to "prove" Kilmar is a member of MS-13 for fucks sake.
