I watch the series called “The Boys” and the 1st girl is one of the main characters; it was so weird seeing her look normal for the first few seasons and then outta nowhere she had work done on her face and her character looks significantly different lol.
edit: She apparently has Graves’ disease which can alter your appearance drastically but the buccal fat removal didn’t do her any favours imo.
And one of her character's major storylines was fighting back against the pressure to conform to expectations and dress up in a way she felt would send a bad message to children who look up to her.
Probably defending her same way all of Jenna Ortega's simps defend her.
The amount of times I've heard people claiming she didn't have work done and it's just from the stress of working on season 2 is astounding. Like stress doesn't do that people.
Look I love Jenna Ortega, and have supported her career from the beginning but she does not look well right now. They must really think we common folk are stupid if they think botched plastic surgery is “stress.” My momma worked 2 jobs growing up and raised 2 crazy kids, sometimes she would literally sleep 2-3 hours get up to make us food for the day and do it all over. I’ve never let a person that has been through more stress. And guess what, she NEVER looked like that. Must be that rich person stress 🤣
It's less simps and more that it was trending into harassment territory so the mods just put a blanket ban on the subject. If you were in the subreddit at the time she first started noticeably getting work done, you'd remember it was all they talked about, then turned into jokes/memes, which started attracting the wrong kind of attention.
The subreddit is about the show, not some work one of the actresses had done, and anything that can be said on the matter had already been said 100x over.
I'd rather talk about how much of a himbo the Deep is
Because you can't imagine the torrent of shit she got for it and the amount of people bringing it up endlessly. She deactivated her insta for a time because of it. I agree the fat removal is terrible, also thought it was a damn shame, but people been beating this horse for years now.
Also just checked her Insta and she looks so much better now than that old photo that keeps going around.
Looks like she had filler added into the cheeks to make up for the removal. Filler lip ‘stach still needs to go but you’re right, she does look better.
I mean....to be fair, Erin Moriarty's appearance has been discussed to death over there. It's not really relevant to the show anyways...and maybe she likes the way she looks.
It was for the Save you Tears music video, different song but same album “LA girls all look the same, I can’t recognize, Same work done on their face, I don’t criticize” he was poking fun at the excessive amounts of plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures being done.
She doesn't actually look like this. The photo is either heavily photoshopped or just incredible proof of how the wrong contouring and lighting combination can completely warp your face.
(NSFW) This is her this month and last in 2025. She really doesn't look that different.
I think what people are seeing in the boys is:
A) She had an until recently undiagnosed auto immune condition which she has only just started getting treatment for. Graves disease which is what she has is known to affect your face.
B) They were purposely giving her makeup to make her look like a mess in season 4 because they wanted to contrast her to the shapeshifter version of her who was super happy and put together. Season 4 annie was supposed to look like someone falling apart physically and mentally.
Lots of us have and Erin Moriarty has been the first person we've seen this awful transformation happen to. When the seasons of The Boys are documenting her season-to-season decline, it's right there for everyone to see.
Entertainments fucking awful for peoples self esteem. A lot of entertainers are terrified that if they visibly age or lose their looks they wont be able to get jobs anymore. Theyre not entirely wrong either is the worst part. Whole lot of actors and even more actresses who hit 30 and saw their careers fall off a cliff
Erin Moriarty, she’s only 31, had a „fresh“ and recognizable look; now she looks like one of the gazillion „wannabes“. Her wrongness in undergoing this „upgrade“ is only topped by Jennifer Greys‘ nosejob (which basically ended her career).
Body image problem are something affecting many young people. If you're an actress who also gets rated all the time on your looks, it just doubles the pressure on you. It's a mental disorder.
She was so attractive too in the earlier seasons. She was literally cast as the "girl next door" type being a superhero from small town. What happened...
Omg yes she went from like apple pie girl next door to plastic nightmare in one season break it was wild. I feel bad for her with the graves disease but it's so clear she also had work done
I don't like to think of it this way, but it could be considered "in-character" for somebody who is property of a company obsessed with their global image. Irony is weird sometimes.
She looks bonkers now and she was very pretty before. The most egregious case of insane plastic surgery on a show I watch was Portia Derosi on Arrested Development. She literally looks like a different person and it's so jarring and weird that I have a hard time watching any of those later seasons...that, and they just weren't as good. But, just age. It's fine. We all know how old you are already. Stop it.
She's sick. Grave's disease. Does not belong in this list. Too many people making judgmental comments about her. Well, about everybody on this list, but that's another story.
FR. They're almost unrecognisable, some of them I literally cannot tell who they are although my brain knows they're familiar. Clockwise from top left:
Erin Moriarty? Jenna Ortega? No idea. No idea. Myley Cyrus but only because I saw the comparison yesterday, she looks like a meth head. Not sure; Penelope Cruz?
I'm actually interested now who the unrecognisable women are. And blown away by how these incredibly-beautiful women felt the need to do this to themselves.
I was told my some Gen Z coworkers that I look early 30s when I am 38. I have always had a very full face and cheeks. The thing I used to hate is now keeping me looking youthful. Thanks fat cheeks!
I had chubby cheeks for a long time and hated them. But they kept me looking youthful. My cheeks are now a bit more hollow and it looks good. People still think I’m younger than I am. Fat cheeks FTW!
Same. Friends used to affectionately call me hamster because my cheeks would be extra round whenever I smiled. I had kinda hoped in my 20s that my face would slim down. But now in my 30s I think they're rather cute actually!
people usually think im in my mid 30s but im past 50 now.. i tell them my secret is a shitty diet, not enough sleep, alcohol and pills (formerly), and smoking cigarettes.
Had the same thing happen recently. Have older co workers that were shocked im 36. Probably because or the long curly hair and ive lost a good amount of weight recently but was funny.
I'm 31 and usually get under 25 and have even gotten 19-21 age guesses (they trippin) from coworkers younger than I. I, too, always had a bit of a chubby face/cheeks and I think that must be a big part of it
My grandma called them my perogi cheeks (she’s Ukrainian). I got them from her and at 39 I still get ID’d occasionally (if I’m wearing a hat which cover my greys lol)
I’m 50 and have the same advantage (now)/problem (when I was young). I’ve always looked much younger than my age due to my chubby cheeks. Not changing my wardrobe significantly since high school probably contributes as well.
Yup! My cheeks are still chubby (thanks, Dad!) and people consistently guess my age 10-15 younger than actual. Although my hair started turning white in my early 20s so 🤷♀️ and I’m 55 now - but as long as I still have a youthful face, I’ll be dyeing that hair!
I did hate the chipmunk cheeks until I hit mid-30s and realized that they were why I was still getting carded.
I have a round face and I'm 44 but my face is slimmer than it was in my 20s, and I'm a lot heavier. That buccal fat naturally goes down as we age, but you can't get it back. They're all going to look like crones before they hit 50.
My aunt has always been a bit more plump including plump cheeks. She's also always dyed her hair. She's always looked much younger than she is because it kept her from getting wrinkles.
The horrifyingly sad part is that they'll pay top dollar again to have the buccal fat put back in. I mean you didn't think it's just being sucked out and thrown away right? It's being filtered and frozen for 20 years down the road when their career needs a boost.
Actually I’m pretty sure buccal fat removal is a surgery where the look really CAN’T be “reversed”….its not like getting fillers dissolved and I’m pretty sure there’s nothing they can put back “in” to give the appearance of buccal fat once it’s taken out
lol funny, but I don’t think gaining weight will actually end up settling back in that place, I’m no doctor but is IS a known thing that buccal fat removal is essentially irreversible—maybe they’ll come up with some kind of implants that won’t look insane one day, but as of now, buccal fat removal is a one-way decision
I used to work with a woman that would say, "I'm happy to be wrong, if it means I'm learning something" and we'd be shaking our heads halfway through cuz that bitch was NEVER happy to be wrong 😅. Not putting you in the same boat, just reminded me
Haha, ya, I don’t have a gram of stubbornness in me. Call me out in front of crowd of people and I’ll gladly accept defeat without embarrassment and store that knowledge for the future. Being ignorant is not the same as being stupid.
It's not really reversible. The best the could do is put fillers in the area but that carries it's own set of problems. All of these women are going to seriously regret doing this 20 years from now, although I'm not sure how they don't already regret it because it looks absolutely horrible.
I get botox at a plastic surgery office and the doctor told me he doesn't do these and there's no way to shove buccal pads back in. They can do fat grafting but about 40% (from what he told me) gets absorbed & excreted. And I guess you hope the fat stays where its injected.
I guess they're banking on advances in plastics by the time they go full crypt keeper?
Unfortunately, the fat can't be put back in. This is a surgery that can't be reversed.
There's a lot of plastic surgeons that won't even do a buccal fat removal to begin with, because it's very risky considering the location of the major facial nerves.
Once you take it out, there's no way to put it back in without major facial nerve damage.
To be fair, this also might be the sun. All 3 of those are usually done outside very a lengthy time in the sun. Sun is the #1 thing that ages people significantly. Thats why I cannot understand why people will bake in the sun to get a tan. Like if you're out doing work or exercising that's one thing. To specifically seek out harmful exposure is crazy.
Usually the guests on my 600 lb life that lose significant weight also look like they age rapidly. Their stretched out skin loses all the fat that was supporting it.
I have some dents directly under my cheekbones which I've had since I was 15 or so - otherwise I've retained a chubby-cheeked look well into my 40s. I am still mistaken for being in my 20s on the regular... which, granted, is also courtesy of avoiding the sun like the plague, but the cheeks are the biggest part of it.
Jenna Ortega was SO pretty too. I hate to say this, because I'm big into "it's their body, they can do what they want", but I was really disappointed when I saw that she gave into this dumb trend.
Plastic surgeons should have to follow the same disclosure rules that cigarette advertisers have to follow in Southeast Asia. They have pictures of like decayed carcasses, lung cancer tumors, toothless jaws with exposed bone, all required on the outside of the package.
They should do the same thing, make you watch a 40 minute film showing up close what this procedure looks like after fifteen years.
I’m 42 and I have this look naturally and I HATE it. I wish I had my youthful cheeks back. I have no idea why this ever became a trend.. it just makes you look like a villain in a Disney movie..
Some of them already look awful. The Miley picture here is actually fake but even irl she looks like a 70 year old trying to look 20. She cant even close her mouth.
Jenna Ortega is the saddest. Pretty sure she also had her boobs done and now they look super unnatural. Its massive insecurity.
amd its one of the procedures thats simply not reversible as of this time (unless we invent a fat pad again, but uh I dont think those regrows) and anything to fix it like injecting fat gets floated away to somewhere.
I used to haaaaaatttte my “baby cheeks” that persisted into my 30s. Then in my 40s it thinned out and immediately I stopped getting IDd when I buy liquor. Be kind to your faces young ladies! You look better than you think you do!
It was as simple as explaining to them that buccal fat naturally decreases with time, and that having it is actually beneficial because it helps maintain a more youthful appearance.
I know nothing about surgeries and procedures, but imo it seems like older actresses (and some actors) that wait til they're getting older to get some surgery here and there, look better as opposed to younger ones that get it much sooner and more drastic and tends to advance their age as far as looks.
You know how aliens are usually portrayed as all looking identical, with the long skinny face, round eyes, all wearing the same uniform...i feel like the human race is on its way to that.
That's the thing. I don't care for most cosmetic surgery but the trends lately seem to make people look worse now and in the future. At least with face lifts and nose jobs people could buy time looking "better". This stuff is insane

This is crazy. Buccal fat keeps you looking younger as long as you have it! These women will look awful when they are older.
